Tired of 777
« on: February 01 2006, 12:59:16 AM »
Len thinks that if I upgrade my turbo, get a double pumper and upgrade my injectors that I'll run in the nines. Who expected that?

I remember posting that all I wanted was 11's. Next thing you know, a accident crimps my fuel line, I get a strong rebuild and now I'm looking at the nines.
Save the bumper fillers!

11's would be my final goal for these cars.  Anything else would take away their "streetability".  My cycle runs 9.9 in the 1/4 and I would never want to go that quick in one of these 20 year old cars without turning it into a drag only car.  That acceleration would tear shit apart right and left.

Of course it would be cool to do it, but if you go too far you won't be able to enjoy it where it counts....on the other strip.

I'm trying to picture what 9's would feel like in a GN.:reddot:

By quick estimates on a 3900lb automatic car:

to run 11.5 in the 1/4 you would need 475 to 525 HP

to run  9.9  in the 1/4 you would need 775 to 825 HP

I wouldn't want to Robert, at least with a 109 block, girdled or not. You could probably pull it off, but only a few times. Hey, are your rods stock?

Robert, I'm not badmouthing your car, but there's a big difference between "might run 9's" and "does run 9's". Have you seen Jason Cramer's car....that runs 9's. Much easier said than done. Either way, don't do that to your car. My car "should run 11's" and that's all I want. Like was noted above....even if you pull it off, it wont be but a few passes and you'll likely have a busted (enter part here).

P.S. The title of this thread made me hope we were talkin' Danzig.

There are a few other things you'll need to go that fast, but it is
possible. Maybe not practical, but possible. Hows your trans and
rear diff ? Cage is a must to pass tech. I know of low 10 sec cars that've
snuck in without a cage, but once they catch you its over until you
have one.

Hell no! Here's a picture I forgot about of his interior. Love that slow shutter speed:
