IHADAV8 Playground / Road trip

Well will be coming back to the states (Atlanta)on the 20 Mar,
going to fly the wife in the next day, file taxes then hit the road.
She hasn't seen much of America, so we are going to drive from Atlanta to Vegas with the Audi.
Thinking of taking he coastal route. highway 10 I think until Texas, then shooting up.


On the tado list, stop in Gulfport and see Robert and a co-worker, New Orleans to see Nasty Wendy (miss you bitch) other than that I'll see if I can swing by Eden to see some goat farmer.


For any of you that live along the way, let me know...and of course sites to show the wife. I have never taken the coastal route before. But should make for a nice drive and some practice for her driving

Well still working in Abu Dhabi, weather has gotten cooler and almost need a light jacket at night...gettin g down to a very cool 23C now.
I'll be heading off for sometime off 30 Nov for 1 week, going to see my sister in Vegas.....
Hmm me in Vegas.

IHADAV8 Playground / 2nd trip to Jilin China

And can say I love this place.
This trip will be here for 12 days, on my 6th day now.
She took me to the movies and watched The Smurf movie, of course it was in Chinese, but I could follow along pretty good.

I got my first terror ride in a cab yesterday...da ng that took a while, thought I would have gotten it on the first trip or with-in the first couple of days.

I was showing her younger brother some pictures and he saw one on my office back in America were I had put up a sign in Chinese. He got a real kick out of it (ok maybe it was some bad words  ) He has been telling the rest of the family about it and asked his sister if she was the one that teach me this.  hehe.
She said NO!, he teach himself.

Since I have been here she has worried that I will get lost, even going back to the room from eating breakfast 
I go out for walks everyday and if I buy something, she starts asking me how I buy this???
Did you get lost? You call me and I will send a taxi to pick you up. (I'm thinking that I'm lost, how is that taxi going to find me, haha)
I get a real kick out of this, she knows that I work in many different countries(even China), but that doesn't seem to matter when I'm in China with her. 

Did I say before that I get stared at a lot....
I do get a few brave souls that will come up to me and ask where I'm from.
Most will just ask her younger brother or the GF.
Had a couple of young girls let me in their shop when I got caught out in a heavy rain storm.
Tonight after dinner was finish I was waiting for the GF with her mother by the front door, and a bunch of guys started yaking away at me to come drink beer, before I could even finish saying No. Her mother shoved me out the door  guess no beer drinking for Jim when out with mother.



Already have my next trip planned for Oct, but only for a couple of days. Her other older brother is getting married. GF and family want me to come, so all ready have it cleared thru work. One good thing about my job is I can go anywhere I want for time off as long as it doesn't cost them any more money. It's actually cheaper for me to come here for my time off, then to send me back to America...LOL. Works out great for me, and makes her happy I'm not spending money to fly here.
Well off to get lost and stared at like I just fell out of the mothership. Take care round eye is on the move.

IHADAV8 Playground / The begining of my trip to Jilin, China

Well after many plans and having to cancel all of them, I finilly made it to girlfriends home town of Jilin, China yesterday.

She had to work, so could not meet me at the airport. I told her no problem as her boss already let her have 2 holidays to go to Korea and Hongkong to meet me.

She had her younger brother meet me at the airport (Changchun) to give me a ride to the hotel in Jilin. It's about a 45 minute drive that he managed to do in about 30 minutes. lol. With in the first 3 minutes he was passing cars on the shoulder. When we got into town he was passing on shoulder, across the centerline onto on coming traffic, lost count on the number of red lights that he ran....He spoke no english expect on thing, "You OK?"
Once in the hotel he gave me about 30 minutes to take a shower and off to a early dinner.
He had ditched the car and was back with a taxi and his girlfriend. I guess he thought I would like American, so take me to a place that had American food too.
I guess he didn't know of all the things I have already eatten, lol.

I fly into some of the crap holes of the world.
If any of you fly will understand this.

One of the places we go into, they keep us high until the last minute then expect us to drop like a military plane....Takes a good pilot to do this!
All 3 of the pilots on this flight was their first time there.
You get strong up drafts and cross winds.

I'll start from gear down.
The Capt is fighting the stick and triing to slow us down
The planes computer starts screaming "Sink Rate" (going down to fast)
Capt is still fighting the stick
Planes computer is still screaming "Sink Rate" almost on top of it's self
Once the planes gets down to 50ft from the ground it will do a count down by 10ft incenments.
I hear 50ft and the rest is so quick that the compputer has a hard time keeping up...
50,40,30,20,10....Hard hit...rear gear bounces back up, nose gear hits hard and bounces back up.
Capt pushes the stick forward to force the plane back down. We hit again flat (rear and nose gear together (we call the a carrier landing...not good) we Bounce again a good 20ft back up...at this point I'm thinking "GO AROUND"
No Capt says "Sorry" and pushes the stick forward again...anothe r hard hit flat and bouncing the plane back up flat a good 20ft. Another "Sorry" from the capt as he pushes the stick forward...CRAP, I'm going to DIE
4 Bounces that i counted and we are on the ground...brake s are smoking...Jim wants to  
We park and Jim goes chain smoking back on the Main deck.....

IHADAV8 Playground / Something to remember with your kids

When I was young it didn't matter if my Mom listen to the same music as me. Heck I took her to most of the concrets I went too.
I can listen to almost anything, but prefer metal.

Since I've been home, my daughter (14yr now) thinks that she comtrols the radio in the car and can listen to her music only.
She listens to Sreamo music, pretty close to metal so I really don't mind. I guess she never knew that  

Today due to the Ice storm we got in Atlanta I've been working at home. I got off my duff and starting making my home office in my room that I've been putting off.
Well of course I like to listen to music while I work...So I hook up some speakers and hit ramdom play on itunes. Next thing I know my daughter is in my room...I see her mouth moving but can't hear a bloody word she is saying...Oh, music is to loud..
I turn it down to hear her ranting that "It's so wrong on so many levels that I'm listening to her music"  

Guess she didn't know that I also know how to download music  

Ok so maybe I was playing Avenged Sevenfold.... I guess that was wrong   :rofl;

Well we ran short of people for the holidays and I was forced to take a trip....
I started out in working in office on the 23rd to a 4pm flight to Baltimore to catch one of our cargo planes...to Dover, Romania, Afghanistan to Hongkong. I was in 3 countries on the 25th. lol
I've been stuck here since  :rofl;

I eat nothing but Korea food the whole time except for the first day.

IHADAV8 Playground / 86 is back on the road.

I've have not had a good year..86 trans almost fell out of the car. It's been down since May I think. Well I stole the trans and stock TC out of the 83, it's a used BRF that I bought 7 years ago..120 plus miles and 200 or so passes at the track... Darn things shifts good. barked the tires hitting second. But I forgot that the TCC plugin was different from the 83 to 86, so no TCC. This should give me enough time to get things sorted out....

General Buick Tech / Time for a head job

no the other one you prevs.
Earl was replace my springs and was having fun, first the tool I bought broke, repaired it then bent a valve. So the heads have to come off, going to have him port the heads and back cut the valves while they are off.
Parts I was thinking:
ARP head studs
RJC head gaskets
Ferrea valves 1.77, 1.5
New springs..duh I've only had them for 2 1/2 years

What am I missing???

IHADAV8 Playground / Broke my car before I left

Me and my youngest daughter abused the heck out of the cah while I was home. County put down new Asphalt on the street by the house. You know the Buick had to go leave it's mark more than once  :rofl;  By the time I left I couldn't give it more than 1/4 throttle or it would start to break up. I was thinking MAF or coil pack, I left it with earl to look at while I gone. After changing out the MAF, adding a translator it didn't do any better. I was thinking coil pack or the wiring going to it.  Any guess before I tell ya what he found???
