General Buick Tech / New best with PTC 9.5

Went to the track last night here in Las Vegas. Air temp was 90' at midnight and DA was about 4450. Ran 3 passes. Best of 11.46 @115mph. was fighting with my PTC 10" converter and ended up going with 9.5. My slip at traps went from 15% to 5% at only 5000rpm. Dusty nailed the converter. Car should pick up more time with some good cooler air and if I can straighten out my boost creep. I havent posted for a while but appreciate the help on here from several people over the last few years Ive had my GN.  :cheers:

Found a CAS V4 stock location IC for sale here in town. Cant wait to see how it does at the track with some cool air!  :rock: Heres a pic of it next to my old Dutt neck IC. The V4 has 21 rows.

Selling my Dutt neck IC just removed from my car. Works well went high 11s with it. I would rather not ship a stock shroud with it as this will make box size much larger and shipping more. Will include a stepped hose 2 to 2.5 inch. $150 plus shipping. Figuring 15lbs 22x20x6 box from 89123 UPS ground.

I saw a Lunati cam for the Buick showing more duration on the intake than on the exhaust side. What advantage would that have as most cams I see are the opposite?

General Buick Tech / For those logging fuel pressure on PL

I just hooked up my fuel psi transducer. Should the reading be steady on PL or will it fluctuate 3-4 psi even at idle? I would expect some jumping around under boost since my boost jumps around a bit. Heres a PL log just driving down road to show what its doing. Thanks

I remember seeing mention of where to buy a fuel psi sending unit to log fuel psi on Powerlogger in another post. Steve Wood was that link from you? Thanks in advance. Im tired of zip tied gauge on my wiper to check pressure under boost.

General Buick Tech / e85 making the switch

I have had several local Turbo Buick guys here convince me to try e85. They have been running it successfully for many years. I have a new e85 friendly fuel pump, 80lb injectors, AEM wideband. The new TT 6.1 chip is in the mail. Hopefully will be running by end of next week.  Buying the 110 fuel and O2 sensors has gotten old fairly quickly. Anybody here have their car running on e85? We are having a Buick "event" at the 4-25 test n tune so I will see how this car does on the new fuel.

Went to Cars & Coffee this morning. Small Turbo Buick showing but wide variety! We had a TTA, hot air T, 64-65? Buick with GN drivetrain and my 87 GN. Disregard my finger in the corner of pic, would think by now I could take a good picture.  :cheers:

Buick Events / Las Vegas Buick track night 4-25-14

The local Las Vegas Buick group is having an informal track night on friday 4-25-14. It is an open Test and Tune event but the LVMS Strip is giving us our own lane for the night. Cost is $50 for racing and $15 for spectators. Must be able to pass tech. Hours are 4-9pm. We are not racing for money or trophies. Just to have a good time. Just an FYI for anyone in the surrounding states that may want to join in. Weather should still be good (not blazing hot yet).

Also may try to get a group of Turbo Buicks to roll into the local Cars & Coffee meet the next morning around 7am. This is located near the 215/ Eastern. This is a free event!

General Buick Tech / Rear sway bar adjustment

Any advice on properly setting up for drag strip? I have Hellwig rear bar set on firmest setting. Should it be set with any preload or neutral on the end links with tires on ground? I also have Spohn solid LCAs. Maybe somebody has a good link for setting up? Thanks

General Buick Tech / first PL run

After a month of trying to get my PL working it seems to be ok now. It seems the newer PLs dont have the usb port grounded and that was causing "noise" that would freeze up PLC. Anyway I installed my TA52 turbo that I traded my TE44 to get. I took the GN out and recorded a run on the road to see where I am at. I kinda rolled into it. Hopefully I attached the file correctly here. How does it look? Im running 110 fuel and trying to get ready to hit the track Feb 14th. Trying to max it out for my fuel. Thanks

Any opinions on it? Reason I ask is a local guy wants to downsize from TA52 to something like my turbo TE44. Would it be worth the trade for room to grow?

Transmissions / How often do you drop your trans fluid?

For those of you who beat on your cars at the track (and street for that matter). How often do you replace your trans fluid? Do you have a magic number of 1/4 mile passes when you drop the fluid? With a 200r4.

General Buick Tech / New PL having issues

I installed my new PL and Scanmaster update. Last night I was able to get my laptop to connect to PL in the car. It was late so I didn't try to start car and monitor. This afternoon I went to connect the PL to car and said drivers were not installed, so I reinstalled them again and got PL connected. When I started car PL disconnected and said "serial error" could not send data. It would not connect again while running. I tried shutting down PL and starting back up, tried switching the usb ports. My scanmaster works correctly when car running (and it is very fast now). So PL only connects with key on and engine off, and disconnects once engine starts. I thought maybe somebody may have gone through this before and can send me in the right direction.  Going to do searching on some sites also. I will be ready to try to mess with it tomorrow after work but right now my frustration level is maxed out! Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention I bought a laptop from Laptop Exchange to use just for my GN. Its an HP with Windows XP Pro.
