How fast/quick can you go on stock heads?
87 GN, K&N cold air, gutted cat, TT 5.7 chip, AFPR, 340 Walbro w/ hotwire, 60 LBS injectors, 981 valve springs, 206/206 Cam, RJC Powerplate, LS1 MAF & translator, Vacuum brakes, Hellwig rear sway bar, Energy suspension poly bushings, Razors Alky, Pypes exhaust, 5931 turbo, CK9.5 converter

I didn't read far enough in to see how fast it went on stock heads but it might have gone 10s

Stock untouched heads, or stock castings?
'87 GN - 4.2L SFI Turbocharged innercooled V6 - Chrome valve covers - supra pump - 14" K&N - 52mm throttlebody - rocker shaft supports -  1/2 intake spacer - TB coolant bypass - 3" ATR exhaust tip - Alum intake pipe - NOS timing cover - chip - relocated charcoal canister - CR42's - stock

After this many years (with old springs) I'd do a valve job


....which leads straight to under cutting the ex valves, bowl porting, and polishing the chambers....

I recently went 10.99 @122 with 93/alky on unopened longblock.  Untouched heads, cam, intake.  New springs though.  Took north of 35psi to get there. I believe with a tighter converter I could have gone faster.

All that boost is because the valve job is tired and the bowls are corked up.

I'd love to see those heads come off so a simple bowl port, back cut the stock ex valves and slam it back together.


It's rare these days to find an unopended engine that's turning real times.

Impressive!  What turbo was that with and how much alky did you squirt?

Mine is almost unopened if you guys wanna use it for testing and return it to me when it's complete! Lol. Only a timing chain done.
