The All About Our Attempt at Drag Week Thread
« on: December 18 2015, 10:50:19 AM »
So it seems that my brother and I have decided to attempt Drag Week in 2016.  It is located favourably between MI, OH, and IN as we have lots of friends in the area; granted I will drive further to get to Drag Week than Drag Week itself. We are still at the early stages of planning - like what car to take; but, the class will most likely be Street Machine Eliminator.

Rules: https://image.adam.automotive.com/f/89338690/2015-2017-hot-rod-drag-week-rules-final.pdf
Dates and Locations: http://www.hotrod.com/events/drag-week-2016-track-locations-and-dates-announced/

So assuming we can get in on registration day (likely early May 2016) and have a car (or two) ready we should be okay.  I've already submitted my leave pass for Sep, and socialized the event to my CoC.  Now I have to see if I can retain a few sponsors for help if the budget is going to be tight.

Game on!

Mike - what is the best way to get registered? I'd love to do this as well.

Yeah everything I've seen it's whoever can wait at their computer(s) and hit refresh until the registration opens. Bangshift.com is usually a good resource for drag week as well.

Street Race smallblock NA or PA is where I'd want to be. I doubt I'd be competitive but it'd be fun!

I will probably take the day off work in advance.  I am also working on a plan that might help me jump the registration line...

My best guess is we will end up in the small block power adder class if we don't land in what was once known as "daily driver".

I definitely want to do it one of these days. I went and watched the time it came to Ennis. It was pretty cool and I got a t shirt. Also went to see the power tour thing when it came through town. Lots of hoopla. I'd like to do that too.

Good luck on the getting registered. I've read it happens pretty fast.

We did Power Tour back in 2012, so this is the natural progression.  I plan on taking the family on the Power Tour when the girls get a bit older.  I will pull out my ol' eBay sniping skills come registration day.

I'd love to do this - but it's not happening this year.

Yup, were tracking that.  Thanks for thinking of me...  I just ordered some E85 conversion parts for the TBSS in the event it draws the short straw.  But, there are also some more wagon parts on the way. ;)
