Downpipe Exhaust Hanger
« on: November 04 2014, 12:08:32 PM »
Mine finally broke.  I am still running stock down pipe with hollowed out cat.
I remember a few years back someone was rebuilding them.  Does anyone remember who that was?

You can do it yourself. Drill out the rivet and get a rubber strap from the 'exhaust rigging' section at the parts store. It'll be right next to the muffler repair putty.

I have thought of that it doesn't look to be as tough of material as original.

I ran into the problem finding a durable rubber strap as well.  I would avoid the auto parts store and head to a local exhaust shop or a truck (semi truck) repair facility.  And definitely don't buy it from gbodyparts...t hey sent me an exhaust hangar strap that was softer than silly putty.

AP Exhaust Products 8200 Exhaust Bracket

You have to drill the rivets to remove the small metal piece but the rubber is a nice piece.

If you want it really tough cut a section out of an old bald rear tire.

I made some suspension bushings for my TVR like that about 20 years ago :)
