IHADAV8 Playground / What would you do??
« on: August 30 2016, 11:45:51 PM »
My neighbor is 25, cute, and has two kids by an idiot. He's very controlling and has abused her verbally and emotionally, as well as the kids. I've helped her with clothes, food, and just trying to be her friend. Now here's the fun part. She's very protective of the kids, which I understand, and he's trying to screw every thing with a pussy. Even gave her an STD. He told her I'm a pedofile and she shouldn't let her or the kids out of the house. She believes everything he says. He's accused us of screwing, which wasn't true, as well as a few other things. This is a bad deal all around, but I care about her and the kids. he's already threatened me with physical harm if I do anything as far as contacting her or the kids. What I'll be doing tomorrow is filing a report with the sheriff tomorrow about him threatening me and may take out an order of protection against this idiot. I keep a 45 beside me at all times whether I'm in my truck or just walking around. If I file the report he'll come unhinged and will expect him to show up trying to kill or injure me. CPS may get involved. All I want is to keep her and the kids safe so wish me luck guys. There is no winner here, just survivors.

IHADAV8 Playground / Dear AT&T,
« on: December 06 2015, 12:15:46 AM »
I'm sorry that I live in a country area where you only provide dial up service, and I'm sorry that living out in the boonies causes issues with phone lines. Since I live out here by choice and you feel that providing decent phone service out here is an inconvenience for your company, as well as costly, I feel that I should state that this is the United States of America, not a third world country. If it was a third world country I might actually get a reduced rate for the crappy service that you offer out here. I'm only 10 miles between 2 small towns, and both them have better service than I do. For the last couple of days your service has been dropping the line constantly and I even got a baud speed of 9.6. WTF is that about? I can't connect properly and even had your service say that the phone number in question was disconnected. How the hell can a number that has been in service for well over a decade be out of service one minute and working the next? Do you want to get rid of the the dial up service? Are those of us that live in the boonies that much trouble to service? We even have fiber optics less than 200 yards from my residence, but you won't extend them across highway 22 for those of us that live west of it, even though the ones near IH 35 can get it? I know this is just raving and ranting at unseen entity and will have no effect but I needed to post this on a public forum in hopes that you might see this and correct it so all those that live in non-remote locations can get decent service.Thank you,Charlie FriersonReside nt of Hill County Texas.

IHADAV8 Playground / New idiot may join
« on: March 19 2015, 02:01:05 AM »
Just in case this genius decides to join, he's trying to sell a GNX clone that was built by Kash in CT. He tried selling it on TB as a real GNX and was called on it. After 3 pages of people throwing crap at him he decided to try a second add so he could bypass the rules. Needless to say, that went over like a lead balloon and he's gone the way of all do-do birds. If he tries to join up here he's from FLA and will have a yankee attitude so we should have some fun out of him.

It seems the idiot in office has decided that we have enough ammo and is now restricting the type of ammo we can have.  :013: Send a note to your congressman as well as your senator so this shit doesn't happen.

Bitch/Whine/Moan / Corvetteforum is full of idiots!!!
« on: October 09 2013, 02:16:42 AM »
Why did I post this? While cleaning out my storage unit I found a bunch of left over vette brochures and one SSR training manual. I posted it over at TB in the lounge since it was a fun find as well as sent an email to Mr Kirban and one other guy I know that is a vette person. After Thomas sent me an email back he suggested that I should post over at the above mentioned forum and see what they might be worth. Now what has happened in the last 24 hours since I posted over there? I got a warning for being a non supporting vendor since this isn't parts that I purchased for my own use. :O   How the hell can you use a brochure on a car for parts? :chin:   I didn't offer to sell them individually but offered the whole bunch as a group for $275 shipped, which is a fair price for 31 50th anniversary cruise maps in mint condition. 1 50th anniversary vette brochure, 2 04 vette brochures, and a sales training manual for the SSR. Retail on these is roughly $480 so I think that's a fair price but since it's not a part that I purchased for my car that would make me a vendor? Talk about a bunch of BS! :013:

Supersix here...
Thanks for linking this, Charlie - you are one of the good ones.

I split this off of the other topic, this thread is just to gather support and $$ to help Nasty Wendy recover from being "Weavered".

This is a great community effort organized by Scot W and Coach ( I think) Over on TB.com (Link below)

Copy of text in Scot's post:

Quote
By now most of us have read about the tragedy that has fallen on Clay aka "Nasty Wendy", loosing your pride and joy that you worked long and hard to build is a terrible thing regardless of how it happens whether it be a car accident, Fire, Theft, Vandalism, Etc, Etc. Clay happens to be on a fixed income and doesn't have the funds to just buy another car, his insurance was just enough so he could drive it legally on the streets. I was speaking to Coach (Donnie Schanz) tonight about the Clay's car being burnt and we both thought it would be a great gesture to help out a fellow Buick enthusiast get back into another Turbo Regal and back on the road enjoying his car like we all do. I personally have only met Clay only a few times at BG and Coach has yet to met him. We both simply want to help. I do not wish to get into any of the mess about the other thread and DO NOT want any of that negativity flowing over into this thread! This is a thread about “Helping” and not bashing so please if you have any negative things to say please keep it to yourself! All I want is to see is a fellow Turbo Buick guy who loved his car and this hobby get back to enjoying his car again... If you wish, feel free to post that you donated or be kept anonymous. Either way is fine as long as it’s not negative…

Donations are cheap at $7.51 per donation (Multiple donations can be made if you wish). We all waste more than $7.51 weekly, just think how cool it will be to see a finished car posted when this is all over and know that our community helped it happen?

ALL transactions (Donations) will be printed out as they come in and kept in a separate folder in his name so every penny will be accounted for and as soon as a decent roller is located and price reached, the money donations will be closed! Upon locating the said roller I will personally purchase it with the donation money. Once the roller is purchased we will arrange some sort of delivery.

No person involved in this cash donation will keep a single penny, All money will go directly to the seller of the roller and the money donations will be closed immediately.

With this being said, if anyone out there reading this has a nice roller (minus engine, trans) that they have laying around would like to sell please contact me personally to discuss.

To make the minimum donation simply click here--> https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_ id=Q8T5Y2D6H7VBA

To the people who wish to make a larger donation, here is our PayPal address to send payment - sgblhb@charter.net (Please send payment as "Friend or Family") Make sure to add what payment is for in the "Message" box!

Here's your chance to help Clay out guys. You don't even need to post if you don't want to.

Bitch/Whine/Moan / A bit pissed right now
« on: July 29 2013, 03:10:43 PM »
Well things are tight so I decided to dig through the safe and see if I had something that I could get rid of. Found 3 of my PW's and 2 I haven't used in 10 years or better so I decided to look up values to see what they were worth. Rough estimate between the 3 was between $2500 to $3200 and I decided to see if someone wanted them. Now these are unique items that have been in my personal collection for a while. All 3 are pre  September 1994 and 2 were built before 1946. 2 are legal in most states and 1 is even legal in some restricted states.

So I find a broker for them and included pics to show condition as well owership papers. He asks me what I think they're worth so I go with the lower value. He offers me $1200 for all three and thinks I'll bite. Well since I was in the business for over 10 years I know he's low balling me and told him what I'd expected as far as an offer. He tells me that things don't sell like they used to and I know that's BS to say the least. :013: He sent me an email last night asking what my lowest was and I get one again this morning so I know he's interested. I could honestly use the $ right now but less than 1/2 of what they're worth just isn't what I expected to say the least.

So do any of you need a few toys to have around that will only go up until the idiots in office decide to try and take them away from us?

Carbed Turbo Buicks / Carb Turbo Racing Association.
« on: June 20 2013, 05:19:40 PM »
Some of us have talked about doing something like this before and I know there's more out there that might join if we, as a group, decide to actually start something like this. As a possible other name it could also be call Carb Turbo Association for Racing & Performance, or CTARP. Not the most interesting name I know but I thought a little brainstorming about this might be fun and lead to a possible group that would be able to provide info on draw through and blow through systems in general as well as more recognition for our sadly ignored designs and systems.

Basic rules would of course be, it has to be about engines, either running a draw through or blow through carb turbo system, and automotive based. That would keep most of the tech mostly for street legal or race cars and not be some of the interesting "creations" that are out there. One of the other reasons for this is to be able to get some discounts on parts and assistance hopefully from after market sources.

I'd like to hear from others on this before I even try doing it. I was thinking about starting a facebook page just for this and see if others would want to join up. Doesn't matter if it's a Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, or even an import. It's about sharing info on the designs and helping each other out.

Well I asked once before and didn't get a lot of response but I figured I'd go ahead and post it anyway. This is most likely the only place it will be posted so if anyone want's a copy PM me or just copy it off here. :D

For the upper control arm you can get the same basic one that Brian sells at G body, from speedway motors. You need 2 of these. The stock control arm is a little under 8.5" from the center of the shaft to the center of the ball joint so you either need to use a longer upper ball joint with stock lower which will give you a 1/2" taller set up and correct some of the camber curve issues that the G body has, or you can use a stock upper and a longer lower ball joint, or longer both top and bottom .

That last statement may sound a little confusing but you can do a lot of different combos with ball joints depending on how you want the car to sit. With the taller upper and stock lower it will sit at roughly stock height. With the taller ball joint in the lower it will sit either 1/2" lower or 1" lower depending on which ball joint you use. A longer ball joint changes the relation of the steering knuckle axis point and changes the way the tires move in relation to going around a curve. The taller spindle height will keep the tire on the outside of the curve from knuckling under (going positive camber) and help on the inside tire from going the other direction. It will keep the tire flatter on the ground in a corner. Prefered is no more than 1" difference in height from stock or it can really change things more than you want.

Upper tubular control arm part number  910-34394 R
1/2" longer upper ball joint part number 721101041. QA-1.
1/2" longer lower ball joint part number  721101091.  QA-1.
1" longer lower ball joint part number    0011277100. Howe.

The G body chasis has bump steer built into it from the factory which means that as the tires hit something in the road and the tires move up and down the toe of the wheels change. This doesn't help handling and it also can create some tire wear issues if the tires are wider than stock. An easy way to correct this is a bump steer kit. What this does is replace the outer tie rod with an adjustable set up. You can get these from several different sources but I've found them for less than Hotchkiss and others have offer them. If you want to understand how this works do a search on youtube for bumpsteer and there are several vids that show the corrections and how they relate to this kit. Once again you can get these from speedway motors. The kit tie rods has both inner, outer, and a sleeve that uses lock nuts instead of clamps on the tie rods. You will need 2 of each.

Bump steer correction tie rod kit part number 910-32800, 18.5" long
Stud kit for bump stop correction kit part number 916-36055GM
Seals for outer tie rods available from speedway 910-01504

As far as a tubular lower, unless you are planing to do a lot of road racing it's not needed, but if you go this way  you'll be happier with heim joint ends instead of poly bushings. If you want to save a little money and make it handle better then you can replace the lower control arm bushings with a greasable steel and teflon bushing. This will give you the advantages of a bushing that won't flex but move up and down much easier. Not a lot of bling factor but you don't have to put out a chunk of cash for something that's not needed. You will need 2 of each bushing for the lower arms since the front and rear bushing aren't the same. You can also get brand new arms without bushings or ball joints in them from speedway if you want something a little better looking.

Lower control arm buishings part numbers:  Front-106-20069LW, rear-106-20076LW

If you plan on changing the rear bushings or arms you'll be much happier with a heim joint type rather than a stock type bushing. The rears have a design that binds them up since the rear sway bar is attached to the lower control arms. To fix this you can get a bushing housing that has a heim type joint in it so the control arms actually move rather than being held in the chasis by the center of the bushing.  I suggest that you box the control arms before you replace the bushings. You can also change the IC of the car with an offset bushing in the axle. These bushings are offset 1/8" which will bring the IC down and rear ward which will give you better traction on the rear. These need to be installed in the car so that you get the position of the right because they're offset.

Replacement rear heim bushing part number 916-34048
Offset axle bushing part number 916-3447

As far as springs go I don't like progresive ones. The reason is because you can't really adjust the chasis for a spring that starts at one rate and then increases in rate as it's compressed. I also don't like the Ebach springs. They're a little to heavy for a V6 car. I do have some numbers that are moog parts that are close to the same rates of the DSE that Scott W (GNS Performance) is using on his car. (575 lbs/in Front and 125 lbs/in rear) For the front of the car a rate of 530 lbs per inch or 598 lbs per inch. The lighter spring will give you a smoother ride but the heavier ones will help the car go around the corners a little better. On the rears I don't increase the rate a whole lot because it's the front that has the most. The rates I chose are either 141 and 133 lbs per inch or 167 lbs per inch. The springs may not look like a stock spring but they will fit in the upper spring pocket the right way. I'll list them as pairs somewhat matched so it doesn't confuse you any. The part numbers are MOOG so you will get a quality spring. These springs will lower the car at least 1" overall from original stock height.

Lighter spring combo part numbers  5658 Front and 6377 or CC617 Rear
or
heavier spring combo part numbers 5660 Front and 5413 Rear.

The other option for the front spring is the 5608 (1" lower at 424 lbs/in) and will stiffen up the fronts some without giving a really harsh ride. The stock spring has a rate of 355 lbs/in and this will give you some options as to what you want to do with the car.

Fifty year old manure spreader - $1 (Washington, D.C.)
Fifty-year old manure spreader. Not sure of brand. Said to have been produced in Kenya. Used for a few years in Indonesia before being smuggled into the US via Hawaii. Of questionable pedigree. Does not appear to have ever been worked very hard. Apparently it was pampered by various owners over the years. It doesn't work very often, but when it does it can really spread the manure and sling it for amazing distances.

I am hoping to retire this manure spreader next November. But I really don't want it hanging around getting in the way. I would prefer a foreign buyer that is willing to relocated this manure spreader out of the country. I would be willing to trade this manure spreader for a nicely framed copy of the United States Constitution.
