Beehive Roller Springs??
« on: March 02 2011, 08:46:15 PM »
Anyone hear stories of the springs not lasting more than 25K miles?? 210-215 cam?
Someone is trying to tell me they don't last??
Just like to confirm either way as mine are fine after 10K & track days to 6K rpm.
Cheers!
David

never heard that....but the only to know about any spring is to check the pressures

25K miles is not a good reference to rate springs. Car could be 40 years old with that mileage. As Steve said I would check the spring or at the end of every season if you has a lot of spring pressure.

Solid or hydraulic roller? That makes a huge difference too. As does what exactly 25K of run time equates to.

Typical roller kits from Full Throttle are Hydraulic.

Lets say 5 years of 2500 miles cruising with 10 track days each year running low 11's.
I just get a feeling he wants to say anything to sell the heads with the new springs he has or I get a discount of $100 & suppy my own which he is not to crazy about doing. I'm not sure what brand he has but says the pressures open-closed etc. are the same.
For $100 in springs I don't think it's a big deal either way if they work the same but I was curious if anyone else claims the Beehives get softer quicker & easier than something in the same price range etc. I have never heard that mentioned before. He is an old fox but I am no spring ckicken either!  :rofl;

Direct from Mike at FT where I got my beehives:

The comp beehive springs had some problems with breaking for a short time but that is solved, PAC here in Detroit started the whole beehive thing recently. Comp was buying them from PAc but went to Mexico and had some issues. We only use the PAC spring in our kit, which have been proven to be great
Mike

I'm glad that Mike took the time to give a good answer to my question & shows he is a Stand Up Vendor once again!
Thanks Mike!

Sounds about right. No harm in getting fresh springs for that price.

Your 100% Right Dave!!

For years I have been told to write it all down so maybe this is the motivation I need?  :question;

No more stories from me, everyone can buy the book when it comes out one day!  :D
