General Buick Tech / About to get motor back...
« on: May 17 2016, 10:51:54 AM »
Couple of questions

For the harland sharp rockers what bolts have y'all been using?

I went with a roller cam and still have the stock Cam sensor.  Do I need to install the bronze gear?

Whats the biggest pump I can go with using the stock lines...

General Buick Tech / No power anywhere!!!
« on: February 09 2015, 12:20:02 PM »
Car sat for about 2 months and battery died...

I tossed the charger on it and it showed charged.

I jumped in to start the car and it makes a few clicks and nothing.  Nothing comes on at all!  No lights no headlights nothing.  Didn't have time break out the voltmeter but put a test list on the terminals and it lit up.  Back of the alternator didn't have power at all.

I'm guessing I need to start checking the grounds...No rats or anything either lol...

Any pointers or ideas?

General Buick Tech / Showing lean, no knock good FP
« on: October 26 2013, 03:59:50 PM »
That's what i've ran into...I've tried two different fp gauges.  One is a hood mount and I watched it during a pull and the other is rail mounted liquid filled.  Both set to 42PSI line off.  During a 3rd gear pull O2's (wideband and narrow) are showing in the mid to high 600's on only 13psi.  I took off the driver side manifold b/c it sounded like an exhaust leak and I couldn't find anything.  Slapped it back on and it still sounds like it but I'm not seeing it.  Manifolds are stock with no gaskets.

I have the wastegate backed off b/c I don't want to hurt the car.  Also air only blows out of at the feet and the dash.  I'm assuming there is a vac leak there.  Would other vac leaks combined with vent ones or exhaust manifold leaks cause the O2's to show low?

Mods are TE-44, 38lb bluetops, THDP dp, 2 1/2 exhaust, TT 5.7 chip left at default settings hotwired FP, AFPR.

General Buick Tech / Yet another volt light issue
« on: August 20 2013, 06:52:20 PM »
OK, volt light wasn't working at all so I pulled it apart and fixed the connection.  So the light now works and scan master is showing around 12.8-13.2.  The light looks dimmer than the one above it.  Is that because of the resistor? Or do I have to dig deeper into this?

Hey ya'll,  Been on the "other" board for a while...looks like i'm going to like it here!

Just got back into the TR world.  About 3 months ago I bought my old highschool guy back from the guy I sold it to 10 years ago.  Been painted and done nicely since then...he's a body shop manager so he did all the work.  It's a 87 hardtop GN with a TE44 turbo and supporting mods with a Scanmaster for tuning.  I bought a PLX WB and hoping to get the powerlogger soon so steve, earl, and some of you other pros can check out my runs.

Happy Boosting!
