General Buick Tech / Bypass wire
« on: April 02 2017, 08:18:30 PM »
Hello,
I installed a new TR6 and I'm getting a code 42 and a rapid flashing green light on run led while engine is running which indicates an open or short between the D5 ecm harness and pin B on the ignition harness tan/black bypass wire.

Well I cut the wire at the ecm and the ignition harness and ran a new wire and reset the ecm and I am having the same problem. Any ideas

Fwiw I did have this problem once before but it went away after I changed the module and coil

General Buick Tech / Mease stock location intercooler
« on: February 14 2016, 03:32:23 AM »
Hello,  the previous owner of my car apparently cut the side of the intercooler shourd in order for the front sway bar to fit.
I have a HR Bar at and have no intentions on re-installing the front bar.

My question is besides for cosmetic reasons, will I benefit anything from fabricating something to close in the sides or finding something to close in the sides.
Thanks

General Buick Tech / Cruise control
« on: January 11 2016, 11:14:40 AM »
Hello,
What causes the cruise control module to suck in as soon as vehicle is cranked whether cruise is on or not.
I didn't see this scenario in the trouble shooting on vortex Buick.
Thanks

« on: November 17 2015, 09:55:18 PM »
Hello,  attached is a log of two runs.  In my opinion the rpms are two high at the end.  6300 rpms
My converter is a pro-torque 9.5 2800 stall.
I'm running 275/50/15s.
My question is do you guys have a recommendation besides changing the converter that can help bring the rpms down.

Champion irons
6262 turbo
170lbs springs
60 lb injectors
Earl brown cover
TT 6.0 chip
Rjc power plate

Just changed to red Armstrong  fuel pump.

General Buick Tech / won't start after front seal repair
« on: February 21 2015, 06:18:10 PM »

Hello, I guess I got tired of the car running well so I decided to fix a front seal leak I've had for a while.

I put everything back together and now it just spins over.

I did not prime the oil pump. I contacted Mr. Earlbrown and he feels that I should be ok not priming because of the quality of his build on the front cover.  I've had this cover for a while and I am very pleased.

I think that maybe I have installed the cam sensor 180 out although I really don't see how I could have because when I removed the cam sensor I set it a 25 after TOD and I used a permanent marker and made marks so it would go back in the exact way and I put a pair of vise grips on the flywheel to keep it from moving. I also used the cam sensor alignment tool that plugs in with the light on it. I plugged it in before I removed the cam sensor and the light came on. The light also came back on after I re-installed it which makes me believe that it went right back in the same way.

I've triple checked all the connections.
I've checked and it does have gas.
I've checked the fuel is prim
I just wanted to see if ya'll had any ideas b4 I pull the cam sensor again.

Question #1 Even if the pump isn't primed shouldn't the car start.
Question #2 Even if the cam sensor is 180 out shouldn't the car start but run like crap.

 Thanks in advance

General Buick Tech / whu whu whu sound
« on: December 14 2011, 10:12:13 PM »
Hello,  If I am driving at a steady speed and give the car about 20% more gas like to pass someone or accelerate moderately the car feels like it is between boost and no boost.  If I give it heavy or light throttle this doesn't happen.  This only happens during moderate acceleration.  The car makes a sound like when you are accelerating hard and let off. ( The horse sound everyone talks about)  Its like the boost is kicking in and out.
I can make the car do this at will by giving it just the right amount of throttle.  It is like there is a certain point when there is a dead spot or something.  I know this is confusing but this is the best I can explain.    I've set the scan master on different settings like: rpm,tps etc and didn't notice anything like a jump or dead spot.

I do have Powerlogger if ya'll think a log may help.

Thanks

General Buick Tech / EGR Pressure
« on: November 30 2011, 08:46:56 PM »
Hello,
I made a plate to cover the egr hole with the plate that covers the chip on the ecmwhen I removed the ecm not thinking there would be alot of pressure here.   The plate blew out of the bracket at the top and folded over.  My question is should there be enough pressure at that point to do that or is something possibly wrong.   I hope I just used too thin of a piece of material.

What do you think?  Also I read somewhere that I could fill the hole with jb weld is that true?  Thanks

Transmissions / converter won't lu
« on: January 15 2011, 06:26:55 PM »
Hello,

I have a newly installed pro-torque 9.5 lu converter.

I noticed my gas mileage was horrible 8-10 mpg then I noticed my converter was locking up unless I let off the gas a hair.  But now I think it is  really not going into lu at all. I think the drop in rpms was really just from letting off pedal.

I put a switch to ground pin A and F and put trans in 2nd and drove the car then flipped the switch and nothing. I tested the connection and f is becoming grounded when I flip the switch.

I also unplugged the harness from trans. turned the key to the on position and couldn't get voltage on any of the wires.

I also pushed the brake pedal in and manually pushed in the two buttons on the brake pedal and still nothing.

I notice that on my pl that when I flip the switch I have connecting a and f that the check doesn't come on in the pl in the tcc box. Should it?

What do you guys think might be going on?

Thanks
