I use type f on the stock trannys. Read that it doesn't foam up like the dexron.  No issues with it and after a few filter changes it will be mostly all type F.  Think I read that on the spring cleaning list at gnttype website.

After having a high end built up tranny done, that guy recommended John Deere low viscosity hy-guard and one quart of something red so you can read the dipstick. That tranny has been beat on pretty hard with no issues.

I almost didn't want to post on this subject as everyone will have a say on what's best.  I can only tell you what I use

I use tractor fluid too. Coastal brand I got in a five gallon green pail. It is multiviscosity . It has been in there a year so far. Seems to be working well.

With the heavier viscosity tractor fluid have you noticed any difference in the converter?
Lower brake and flash stall?

I didn't have anything to compare it too as this is a fresh 2004r and new converter and we took out the 700r4. I like what it is. It doesn't smell brunt or anything after a year.
