I don't know...it can cause the alternator to get too hot if you ran it a long time making it charge.  It would take a load test to show if it is failing.

Let the car idle, turn on all the lights, and see if the voltage holds steady.

The welded one has all the seams welded up instead of being rolled, or crimped like the normal muffler.  I think it is supposed to be stronger and last longer. 


I can only guess that the 101% could be attributed to a tuning effect that sucks a bit more air through.  One percent is probably in the range of error for the bench.

plastic is easier than glass.  You can buy a kit, but, if they are really bad...JD and Charlie's way will give a better result

been a few years since a boat owned me and I am somewhat cynical in that my knee jerk opinion is that boats, fast cars, horses, and women are the most fun when someone else is paying the upkeep.

That aside, I really think Mark is right with regard to today's boats.  Maintenance will avoid 99% of the potential problems and modern boats are plenty reliable as long as fresh gas is kept in them, they are stored for the winter correctly, and routine maintenance is performed regularly.

For Bay work, I think you have the size nailed.  Big enough for unexpected choppy conditions but not so big that it is a major hassle to move when needed.

I am not up to date on brands, but, I think Mark's suggestions are safe and I concur on the used advice.

Yeah...then you can take some sanding rolls to the block and components and do some polishing up of all the casting marks and rough spots so it will look great when you paint it before reinstall.  Also you can clean it up under the hood and paint everything in the engine compartment.

Then you will be finished by spring and can post pictures to compare with David's pics!
