8:07 PM- Monticello, Utah

England is a no-go. I left Ely this morning at around 8 (with an aching head....hangov er story in a moment). I got to England headquarters around 1 or so; there's llike a million trucking HQs in the same few blocks and it's pretty hectic. I walked into this enormous building and it looked like a damn Greyhound station. By that I mean to say that although it was clean and new it was packed with all kindsa shady folks walkin' around, hanging around, etc. I got my room key and went upstairs to check out my 'dorm room'. On the trek up there I was getting a major 'something here is vibing wird' feeling and just did not like the place. Then, I opened the 'dorm room' door.....the room was identical to a prison cell. Not at all groovy. Tiny metal bunk beds in a 10x10 room....and all the bottom bunks are spoken for. No one was in the room, so nobody saw the "Aw  HELLS no!" look I must've been wearing. Now, I'm not a superstitious person, but when my gut tells me something I usually go with it.....and my gut said to get the F out of there. I can't really explain it, but that place did not agree with me. I went back out to the car and called the wife. With an almost cracking voice I told her, 'Toots, I don't think this place is gonna work out'. I fully expected a response along the lines of, 'Oh, so this has just been a vacation/rod trip for you, asshole?' but the best thing about the missus is she's way rad when I need her support so she just said, 'Then come on home'. I turned my key back in and jumped on I-15 south. So, I've been headed back toward home all afternoon and am stopping here for the night.....beca use I've got the leftovers of a nasty hangover. Reason being- last night I got about 10 Coors Lights into me and allowed the nostalgia to run wild. Naturally, it wasn't long before (around 1 am) I decided 'fuck this, I'm in Ely and I'm at least gonna go out for a beer at the Hotel Nevada'. So I strolled the few blocks, enjoying the Ely night air like I never left. I entered the Hotel and went over to the bar (24 hours). I used to know a real punk named Troy who I almost strangled once for thinking he was sneaky and trying shit with my then girlfriend way back in the day. Last I heard (about 3 years ago) he had been working at the Hotel. So, I ask my bartender if he still worked there.....Mr. Barkeep got a real sour look on his face...come to find out that Mr. Bartender would LOVE to kick Troy repeatedly in the fudge pucker. Long story short, he proceeded to give me free Jager shot after free Jager shot in return for dirt on Troy and his family.....and his family is: Mom- small town bar slut, Dad- MIA, Sister- small town bar slut part 2 and Brother- toothless retard. Me and my bartender had a lot of laughs, but I had to cut myself off before I fell off the barstool. So, I stumbled back to the motel and all-in-all I think that little walk and a few drinks at the Hotel equal a very fulfilling trip even if not for the reason I took it.

Heres a little story for you...
Quote

A Nevada State Trooper pulled a car over on I-15.

When the Trooper asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver said he
was a magician and juggler and was on his way to Albaquerque to do a show at
the Circus, and he didn't want to be late. The Trooper told the driver
he was fascinated by juggling and asked if the driver would do a little
juggling for him then he wouldn't give him a ticket.

He told the Trooper he had sent his equipment ahead and didn't have
anything to juggle.

The Trooper said he had some flares in the trunk and asked if he could
juggle them. The juggler said he could, so the Trooper got 3 flares, lit
them and handed them to him.

While the man was juggling, a car pulled in behind the patrol car, a
drunken good old boy from New Mexico got out, watched the performance, then
went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in.

The Trooper observed him and went over to the patrol car, opened the door
and was almost knocked over by the smell of Jager. He then asked the drunk what he thought he was doing.

The drunk replied, "You might as well take my ass to jail, cause there's
no way in hell I can pass that test motherfucker."

LMFAO! Nice!

Good story Sylvan, whenever you miss out on the bottom bunk it's usually somewhere you don't wanna be. Like jail, top bunks suck.

My brother and I had bunk beds when we were kids. I had the top bunk.
He used to stick his feet up against the bottom of my bed, and kick it up in the air
nearly knocking me outta bed. Then he'd laugh his ass off. One night
he did it and the bed collapsed on top of him dumping me on the floor. I'm
still laughing my ass off. :rofl;

Okay, quaint little story Sylvan, I need to know how the breakfast at the Silverstate Restaurant was? You know, the important stuff!!!

Hotel Nevada. Cool place that has a walk of fame in the front of it. You go inside and you just have to stay a while.

The Jailhouse is one of my favorite steak houses to eat in.

Listen boys, we need to have a roady up there. We should do it on a Silverstate Race weekend just so we have something to look at. Who's in?

I am, I told Sylvan this already. I'm trying to get a friend to film it. I think I'd have a fucking field day there with all my cameras. Do they have those hotels with the tacky wallpaper peeling?

P.S. Greg just reminded me of the psycho cop in Stephen King's book 'Desperation' that kept yelling "Tak!"....the book was inspired by how creepy Ruth Nevada is. I'm pissed that he found out about my town.
