My daughter lives out in the woods in a cabin...so she does most of her shopping on the internet and has it shipped here...and then drops by every Friday to pick it up. It appears stuff she buys from China gets damn near shipped for free. How in the blue hell does that work?

The US government supplements/finances postage from China.

It's amazing that I can buy something off eBay from China for less than I can mail an empty envelope to my neighbor.

They can gather raw materials, manufacture a product, warehouse it, pay someone to list it, pay someone to mail it, pay postage, pay eBay 10%, pay paypal 3%+$0.29, and get it to my door turning a profit on something that sold for $1.

A few years ago I bought a bluetooth USB dongle from China for $0.11US.

Yet several years ago I was working with a foundry in china to cast 'earlbrown timing covers' and for me to have a sample mailed to me without gobment subsidies, was going to run me $79.

Each country assumed the cost of delivery within their own country, It was supposed to be balanced , not 99% from Asia and 1% back. So yes= subsidized.

This Yamaha 7.1...is more like 9.1. Bookmarked the PDF owners manual from Yamaha and started reading it. It has outputs for 2 presence speakers that are placed at the top left and  top right at the front of the room. Back to Kijiji. I'll try and dig up some Paradigm Atom speakers.

HDCP error flashing on the receiver. High tech sucks. HDMI splitter seems to be the solution. I don't believe this shit.

The splitter some how rips the HDCP out so the Blu ray player, TV and receiver all get along and stop fighting with each other. As soon as I plug the out to the TV the receiver throws the error. I think it's the TV throwing a fit. I'll try the splitter between the TV and receiver first.

The gamers are having an issue with having video...but no audio...and not being to take screen grabs.

Has something to do with copyright infringement or pirating or something like that. I call it bullshit...for cing people to buy all new stuff. They can take a long, hard suck on my ass.

Brad HDCP errors do suck. There are quite a few different versions and interoperabili ty can cause issues. There might be firmware updates for some of your devices, proceed with caution.

I'm in good with the audio/visual tech that works for a couple of different audio/visual shops. So far the splitter has stopped the error code on the receiver. The 5.1 Yamaha I had was a breeze to set up. Almost like Eric designed it. This 7.1...is a nitemare. TV is telling me no signal. It would help if I could figure out where I could choose a HDMI port. Nothing on the remote...and I can't figure out how to get the onscreen menu up. I found the PDF from Yamaha for the manual. Gonna start going over it. Someone on YouTube should have a tutorial for it as well. Also need to find a HDMI to VGA adapter...so I can hook up a Samsung 32 inch to a desktop computer I have that doesn't have HDMI. Need the male end for the VGA end. Not sure if such an animal exists. Prolly won't be working this week again. Better go get some beer...cuz this is gonna test my patience. I'd rather change the rear spark plug on the PS on a hundred TR's than deal with this.

Found the offending speaker wire that was grounding out. Rear and front satellite speakers aren't working...and HDMI isn't working for the Blu Ray player. Using and older DVD player with the RCA connectors. HDMI keeps saying input not found. Nothing on the remote gives me an option for HDMI 1 or 2. Still can't figure out how to get the onscreen menu to come up for the receiver. Got some reading to do. Nothing on YouTube for help.
