My life as a wino and a drifter....
« on: August 26 2006, 06:46:27 PM »
Getting ready to leave in the morning. I plan to be on the road by 4 am, arriving in Ely 14 hours later.....a little 'last hurrah' before I live in Salt Lake for 2 1/2 weeks starting Monday. Holga's loaded up....I'm hoping to get a picture of that billboard I saw on 666 a couple of months ago advertising the 'KFC on 666'.

Woot! Take along a spare roll or two man, I'm sure you'll burn through them. I'll suggest Kodak 400NC.

Anyway, good luck on your truckers tan.

:atbeer: Good luck, and remember that a "No Lizzards" sticker on the truck means
the exact opposite ! ...Oh yeah, always be polite to D.O.T. no matter how much they may piss you off. They could really make your life hell. :supz:

Damn, I made you buy a Holga. Now you need a Mamiya Universal with a Pola back. I MIGHT have to send you mine...

A long, beautiful drive is that between my house and here at my favorite cheapy motel on Aultman street in Ely. I believe I made it here in about 13 hours flat. As soon as dark fell, I took a quick drive around town (which doesn't take long in Ely)...past old houses that I lived in when I was 17, the brothels (the front doors wide open, whores in full view...talk about window shopping!), past Champs bar where there that Shoshone picked a fight with me but we were too drunk to fight so I just went home with those two chicks who were realistically both a 6 out of 10 but looked like 8s 'cause I was drunk and they were both in the mood, the cemetery where I sat at night and pondered life perhaps too deeply, etc., etc. I could drive around here all night remembering old times, but instead stopped at the gas station, picked up some barley pop and came back to the room where -at my accelerated age- basic cable is the most exciting thing that will be going down. Tomorrow morning I'll catch breakfast at the Silver State restaurant (eat your heart out, Greg) and head into Salt Lake. Thanks for bein' pals and keepin' me company guys, it means alot.

Fuckin' awesome!  What's sad is that most will never get to know the feeling you have right now about anything in their meaningless lives.

Kick some ass at England.

I signed up with JB Hunt back in '94 and used them to get my CDL and training.  They sent me to a school in Philadelphia for a month and learning to drive tractor/trailer in downtown Philly is something I'll never forget.

You will need lots of Anti-perspirant.

Nice story Sylvan. I uploaded a Deadbolt song in the jukebox in the General section, I think you'll like it. It's called 'Truck Drivin Son of a Bitch.'

You'd probably be lucky if that's all you get.

I use to plan my trips around the Flying J stops they are owned by the mormons and are the cleanest places around.
