Hmm apparently they are prone to hop so you are probably right.
Sure looks odd it’s a 9” with the stock brackets welded on.
I wonder how effective it is I understand the principle on a leaf spring but it is set to hit the lower control arm.

Looks like outdated old school tech. One good set of shocks should be enough. Maybe the 9 axle tubes threw the suspension geometry off since they are bigger diameter. Might need some control arm relocation to get the suspension working properly.

I'm thinking new adjustable upper and lower control arms and a sway bar to start and some new shocks probably just 2 lol. I rides like a tank set up like this the spool makes it a nightmare in a parking lot even for a wee car....
