I cannot wait until Trump is president - it will be the "redneckoning".

I should probably trademark that phrase...

Personally I would have started with a regular/short cab, short box, 2wd, stripper model... and cut a hole in the hood to fit the blower.  But, that is just me.

Heading down to the CBRN school at Fort Leonard Wood at the end of the month for some training.  Now I must ask what is there to do in the area?  Race tracks?  Sight seeing?

Also, what should I avoid?   :icon_kidra: <-Think Deliverance  LOL!

IHADAV8 Playground / The All About Our Attempt at Drag Week Thread
« on: December 18 2015, 10:50:19 AM »
So it seems that my brother and I have decided to attempt Drag Week in 2016.  It is located favourably between MI, OH, and IN as we have lots of friends in the area; granted I will drive further to get to Drag Week than Drag Week itself. We are still at the early stages of planning - like what car to take; but, the class will most likely be Street Machine Eliminator.

Rules: https://image.adam.automotive.com/f/89338690/2015-2017-hot-rod-drag-week-rules-final.pdf
Dates and Locations: http://www.hotrod.com/events/drag-week-2016-track-locations-and-dates-announced/

So assuming we can get in on registration day (likely early May 2016) and have a car (or two) ready we should be okay.  I've already submitted my leave pass for Sep, and socialized the event to my CoC.  Now I have to see if I can retain a few sponsors for help if the budget is going to be tight.

Game on!

IHADAV8 Playground / Speaking of Going Full Retard: Thanks NHRA!

The NHRA is butt-hurt and that is a fact.  They have neutered the sport of drag racing and it is dying in their care. Street Outlaws, while fake as shit, is producing a better product and that impacts the NHRA's business.  That said... Street Outlaws is projecting themselves to be something they are not, and in turn has naive people thinking that it is real - and street racing is stupid (spoken from first hand experience); and it was for this reason that the NHRA was created.   Unfortunately the NHRA is too far from its roots and has lost touch with its fan base. Street Outlaws is fun to watch, and I will keep tuning in (because Winter is cold).   Let the NHRA continue to posture as it is only increasing the popularity of the show.

Just learned this today while ordering some pre-filters and replacement SAS Bandit respirators from Eastwood:

http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/topics/respirators/disp_part/

The pre-filters for the Bandit are R95s; which is really handy for working on things other than straight paint - even if the mask is only good for N95.

I have had really good success with this piece of kit.

I do a lot of random things and have lots of crazy ideas for things I want to do with/for the kid(s) that aren't directly related to my project cars so I figured I'd share.

I needed a (mental) break from working on the wagon so I built this for our Daughter... she is 17 months old today.  Crazy!

For Sale/Trade/Want To Buy / For Sale: 1987 Buick Regal Turbo T
« on: July 18 2014, 02:31:01 PM »
For Sale: 1987 Buick Regal Turbo T (not the same as a Grand National at all, it is way better!)

Mileage: 135,XXXkms (84,XXX miles)

Location: Ottawa (Rockland), Ontario CANADA

Price: $16,999 CDN

Allow me to open by saying that this car is not for old farts who want to putt around to car shows and talk about their “investment”, this car is for a young guy/gal who wants to have a good time and race without inhibition.  This is not your typical Turbo Buick – it does more than just drive in a straight line!  It turns corners well, brakes hard and runs in the 11s - very few Turbo Buicks can claim all of those things, and still look good doing it.  Further to this point if you are under 40 and not pretty damn savvy with tuning and computers (ie. your VCR is still blinking “12:00”, and that you still own a VCR) you are going to be more intimidated by the complexity of this car than you were by the boy/girl you asked to dance on prom night.  Also, if you want a perfect car: Go. Away.  This car has had some notable sheet metal modifications to fit the tires and wheels/suspension – it isn’t magic that got that massive rubber under there on a stock frame.

This car has been driven and raced (it has a roll bar, so please don’t kid yourself) a lot over the years as it was my three season daily driver in my 20s.  So it has seen rain, a bit of snow (because Canada), birds have pooped on it, bugs have been squashed and baked on its paint, it has a few stone chips (because they are the best trophies), scratches, cone rash, leaks oil (all Turbo Buicks do – invest in some cardboard) and it even has some minor rust spots… it is a USED car.  The good news thing is the car still shows very well for its age (“restored” in 2006), it is tight (not one stock suspension piece remains), and goes like hell… so it definitely isn’t a USED UP car.

If you want to get the car closer to complete it is going to need some TLC (and not that joke of a term that most sellers use) specifically the headliner and sun visors need to be recovered (both are off the car and included), new window and t-top seals (which will probably still leak), the dash top speaker cover replaced (one comes with the sale of the car, it just needs to be painted to match and installed), and the windshield needs to be replaced (ridiculous torque cracks things).  Plus, as an added bonus it has no air conditioning (but, with some basic parts it can be reinstalled). The car comes with lots of extras as well which can be discussed at length with the prospective buyer.

The car was factory optioned with: PS, PW, PB, PT, T-tops, A/C, delay wipers, etc.; and is 1 of 200 cars that was able to be optioned with black paint and the black-out package in late-1986 (1987 MY); before the WE4 cars put a stop to that.

The basic list of parts/modifications:
-Stock 3.8L Long-block
-MAFT Pro w/Caspers' PnP Harness
-Extender Pro Chip
-LC-1 Wide Band O2
-PowerLogger w/EGT Amplifier
-High Boost Solenoid
-Oil & Fuel Pressure Transducers
-PowerPlate
-Garrett T63e Turbo
-Low-Z 83 lb/h Injectors
-MSD 8.5 Spark Plug Wires
-Large FMIC w/2.5” Aluminum Pipes
-4" "MAF" Pipe & Filter
-F-body Aluminum Rad w/Ramchargers Dual-Fans & Racetronix Harness
-160* Stat
-MPE 3" S/S Downpipe
-LT1 Mini-starter
-4" S/S Single Exhaust w/Magnaflow
-Dual In-tank Pumps w/Braided Lines and SX Adj Regulator
-Propain and Alcohol Injection
-TH400 w/3300ish Stall and Transbrake/Reverse Manual Valvebody & Derale Trans-cooler w/Fan
-3" Chrome-moly Driveshaft w/ DS Loop
-8.5" w/Welded Axle Tubes, Superior Axles & 3.08s
-12" 1LE Front & LS1 Rear F-body Disc Brakes w/Hawk Pads
-Tubular UCAs & Boxed LCAs F&R
-36mm Front & 28.5mm” Rear Swaybars
-Bilstein/KYB Shocks F/R
-800lb/in & 200lb/in Springs
-6-pt Rollbar w/G-Force 6-pt Harness
-Fiberglass Front Bumper w/Aluminum Supports
-Simmons FR17 17x9.5s w/275/40R17 Falken 452s & 17x11s w/315/35R17 Nitto NT05R Drag Radials
-HKS SSQV BOV... and much more that I can’t remember.

I will consider exchanging/outfitting the car with some optional parts (ie. tire/wheel combinations) to help facilitate the transaction.  This is within reason, and depending on the extent of the buyer’s requests you will pay for my time at a negotiated or flat rate.

I should be clear in stating that I have NO OBLIGATION to sell this car as I don’t need the money, or the space (I have room to store it until the end of time), and my wife isn’t hassling me to sell it (hell, it out lasted a lot of girlfriends who thought they had a say in whether the car stayed or went).  But, like many of us we get older, have kids, and priorities change; and rather than let the car sit around and rot - I’ll see if someone wants to take over where I left off.  If not… who cares it is paid for, right?  So low-ballers, tire kickers, day dreamers, test pilots, time wasters, and ham-n-eggers you need not apply.  Seriously, if you don’t have something that resembles my asking price: please move along.  Also if you don’t agree with my asking price the onus is on you to justify your offer considering my detailed level of disclosure.

The car is sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.  Please contact me for more information or details: 23ADeathTech at gmail(dot)com or 6one3-65six-2eight9three

Potential trades considered (plus cash in either direction if necessary) include:
- 1968 Chevrolet Camaro (such as a clean V6 or complete rolling chassis; ’67 and ’69 MYs will not be entertained)
- 1961-1972 2 door hardtop A-bodies BOP or Chevy (clean cars, no crap or half-finished projects; complete rolling chassis considered)
- 1972-1987 Porsche 911/912 (projects and rolling chassis; no targas, sun-roofs or cabriolets)
- 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V
- 2002-2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (sorry no 385hp or LS1 cars – unless you can wow me; definitely no automatics)
- 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 (GT or GXP only, 6spd manual preferred)
