For Sale/Trade/Want To Buy / Classic Fast (sequential) & Wide Band
« on: February 24 2014, 08:51:54 PM »
This kit has everything except the thread in port for map.It is plug and go. It has a 95lb flash on board. Hartline will provide support for low cost but buyer needs to call Holley. My work has kept me busy so I've had little time to play. I have an XFI ready so I'm not forced to sell. I'm looking at trades (I could use a proper rad rebuild with engine & trans coolers and appropriate fittings and a transmission upgrade). The harnesses are in great shape. Comes with NTK wide band and 3 bar map. I won't go lower than $750 (its in great shape) and buyer pays the freight.

Thanks for looking

General Buick Tech / GN1's with TA Performance replacement headers
« on: November 12 2013, 10:00:59 PM »
If you have GN1's and are planning to get TA Performance replacement headers you must grind a clearance into the flange over cylinders 2 & 4. It's agravating to pay over $700 for parts which need to be cleaned up (grinding flange over weld from out of the #2 runner) and now having to grind spark plug clearances into the header flange. I also purchased a new TA front cover and the big tab on the passenger side cracked. I had it welded by an expensive "compitent" welder. It's rediculous when the vendor could not put a very minor operation into the tool cut path so that you would have indigestion if you purchased Champ heads instead of TA's. TA knows all about these small issues because they told me that they did. To summarize, I spent over $1400 plus my time and additional fees to know that when I'm done with these parts they will be correct.

General Buick Tech / TA stock replacement headers
« on: October 31 2013, 09:39:18 PM »
I purchased a set from TA and they fit well (an exact match for the exhaust ports on my ported GN1's) but I wonder if they will create more back pressure than my stockers did. I'm just trying to get my combination into the mid to high tens (on race gas) without fighting it all the way.
Thanks for your comments

General Buick Tech / TA Front Cover
« on: July 22 2013, 10:30:42 PM »
I purchased a front cover from TA since I was looking for close impeller to oil pump pocket clearance (this clearance carries the most weight in terms of oil efficiency). I was setting up my roller cam thrust button clearance and after multiple on off cycles of the front cover I notice a crack in the cover. It's the passenger side water pump port (the bolt that hangs out like a peer). Anyone have this occurance before. Bolt torques were around 38-40nm. Looks like a tig weld job on an expensive front cover. The ear is  not broken off but I'm looking at longevity and thermal cycling. Any feed back is appreciated.

General Buick Tech / 3 Bar Map Sensor
« on: December 05 2011, 03:58:02 PM »
Where is the best price on a 3 bar map? Eric sells them for $60.00.I'm going to try speed density (for a change) so I'll probably be selling my MAF & translator+ for a stocking stuffer price.

I'm impressed with the material and participants on this board.People seem to be looking for the facts and not necessarily being stroked in the process.

General Buick Tech / Old Turbo (TA61)
« on: August 20 2011, 11:49:58 AM »
At about 10 psi my turbo (TA61) starts to "howl" like a car with a ported blower.I checked for any stupid stuff like a failing bearing, journal or a belt.I have been meticulously working on taking inefficiency out of the induction system, exhaust system and turbo.I had the car out the other night and it pulled hard for 10 psi boost.I have no numbers yet but I'm just wondering if someone else has seen this as well. The car has all the equipment to tap the tens (ie;ported heads & intake, ported exh manifs,PTE slic,60#s,denso 280,alky,TT,etc).Your comments are greatly appreciated.
