What fuel pump do you guys recommend? I'm going to be running 80's with Eric's chip using MAF and wideband O2 correction. I currently have an XP pump, which wasn't sufficient when I bought it but Red wouldn't sell me his double pumper because he said I didn't need it. :rolleyes; I was thinking of one of the 340 lph pumps. What do you guys think?
-
I ran into a pressure problem going with a 340 pump. As in I couldn't turn the pressure down below 60 psi. Some guys got away with drilling out the Saginaw fittings and still running the stock lines. I went with a -6 return line and a -8 feed. Racetronix has a sender with the fittings already installed or you can do it yourself. I bought the sender and the lines secondhand from a member off the big board and I can't remember who sells the braided line.
-
For what fuel and how much hp?
-
I want to be able to run around 20psi of boost on straight pump gas. I do have alky but I want to factor of safety incase the alky fails, I know it will still get damaged but more can't make it any worse. I'm putting out close to 500 rwhp with straight pump. So I'd like to see how fast I can go first before turning on the alky.
-
A conventional 255 lph will handle 10.8. With alky, you can handle 10.0
For a bit more, you can go with the DW or the Denso.
I don't like double pumpers but you eliminate the return line problem.
Or, you can go with a 340 and do some replacing as mentioned
-
Is the Supra TT pump no longer the 'hot ticket'?
-
Time in my sig is with a single 255 LPH pump with race gas.
-
I like my dw200 so far.

That is what I called the Denso pump...It's still probably the best quality pump out there...imo, at least :) As you know, it is a little more of a pain to install because of the diameter but no big deal

I can't see a 255 supplying a enough pump gas for a 10.8 in a 4100lb car in a lighter one absolutely. I am running mid to high 11's on pump with my 50's but they are maxed out. Now that I have the 80's Eric said I don't have enough pump to supply them unless I'm on alky.
I was also thinking a big single pump would be much simpler.
-
Jack at Racetronix sells the 340 LPH pump already installed in the SS hanger...it's plug-n-play. He also sells the larger supply/return line kit...which is also plug-n-play. He's located in Toronto...so shipping is easy. He usually has my stuff to me overnite.
-
That is where I got my 80's from. I would definitely buy from him, he's a good guy!

Just checked Erics site...it appears he's no longer selling 80 lb injectors. Gonna order them from Jack.

Good point... On the upside if forces one to inspect the hanger very closely and fix cold solder joints and fortify the fuel level rheostat. :)

That sounds like the ticket to me. :atbeer:

Anyone know anything about these pumps? Or am I asking for problems?

Well I'm frightened.... . That's half the price of a typical pump.
-
Cambodian Tire quality I bet.
-
That is what I was thinking. I'm just waiting for our dollar to climb a little bit more before I order the 340 from racetronix.
-
Racetronic charges in USD?
Scarberia get annexed?
-
lol I picked an Aeromotive 340 Stealth through my local autoparts store think it was $180.00 Canadian.
Was a couple years back.

Jack charges in American bucks. Scarberia's a stinkhole. :)

But it comes with a new hanger and fuel sensor. I sent him an email about getting a fuel line as well but did not get a response, that was 2 weeks ago. :(
-
Jack doesn't respond to much email. He wants you to go on his forum & then he answers. I know this is not the normal practice but you can order thru his vendors & they do pick up phones & email back. Just the way he does things.
-
Much email? I would bet on zero
-
Maybe 1% of them. His vendors have the same price as he sells for so probably a lot less irritating dealing with them!
-
We need a Canadian vendor.....

Maybe you need to move to the us.

Quit goofing around trying to save some. No fun on the side of the road when a pump gives up.

FWIW.......... back around '08 when all the 340 Walbro's were taking a dump, I got stiffed on 3 of them (all on warranty). All crapped out within 1-2 weeks, and that was enough BS for me. I installed an EP-381 gm pump and it's still going strong. TE-60 25PSI, Alky, zero KR, O2's sit around 740-750 rugged in 4th. Works for me.
-
Apparently he doesn't have any! I'd have to order it from the States. Well, this made my decision easy. I guess I will buy a pump locally!
-
I will bring this back around been struggling with my WOT AFR. one day it's 10.1 the next it's 11.0 spraying meth. I paid attention to my fuel pressure gauge and did a couple blasts my turbo spools almost instantly from a roll my fuel pressure on the other had jumped to 60 than slowly crept up to 70 psi with 24 lbs of boost.
I had that areomitve sitting on the shelf but a buddy needed it so we came to an understanding. I'm considering giving an AEM 320 a try looks like the areomitve 340-11169 I was going to use but it's $100.00 less $140.00 Canadian at my local parts store.
-
Here is a tech review seems like it will support my power level easily.
Seems close to the DW300 in rating according to there testing

I might have to purchase a DW300.

Call your local auto parts I went thru Lordco was quoted 140
-
No exchange or shipping!
-
I've never had a problem with Jacks pumps. His 255 LPH unit took me to the time in my sig without a hint of KR. I run his SS hanger which flows better than the stocker. I also run the Caspers fuel pump hotwire kit...injector hotwire kit...and Caspers volt booster...and an extra ground on the gas tank. Race gas is easier to tune than alky...at least for me...and you can run some silly amounts of timing. What's all this WB stuff about? :)
-
Just picked up a new DW300 for 120 bucks shipped.
-
Is that going to require a new return line?
-
I have read where some have opened up the Saginaw fitting where the return line connects at the front drivers side frame. It didn't work for me with the racetronix pump on the white t.
Spoke with nick macale, and he has been able to use the pump by replacing just the return line from the regulator to the frame with a hose. I can't remember what size hose he said he used. I've slept since talking with him.
I really liked the racetronix sender/line kit and will probably use that again. I have no need for the DW300 at the moment but I have plans and found a great deal on it.
-
Is that going to require a new return line?
Maybe...maybe not. With the reading I've done on the other board some have been able to control the fuel pressure with the stock return line...and others haven't. This is with the 340 LPH pump.
-
I asked because they have replaced the old 300 with a new version that may require a larger line. I have the older version in one car.
-
Wasn't the old one a 320 and the new one a 340?
-
Don't know. Just know they caution buyers that a larger return line may be required with the current pump
-
So I picked up an AEM 320 # 50-1000 I will get it installed this weekend and let you know how it works I was surprised when I picked it up $117.00 saved $20.00 using my buddies account.
My local parts store pulled it overnight from there warehouse.
-
Yeah, let me know how it works Larry. I'm stilling waiting for the guys to get back to me with prices. Is there any wiring modifications that have to be done for it to work? Besides the hotwire kit of course.
-
I will post some pics of the installation.
-
Ok, thanks Larry!
-
Just ordered the AEM 320 today.
-
Went in pretty easy had to drop my base fuel pressure about 5psi after the install to get it to 43 psi.
-
I was able to reuse the plug from the walbro 340m AEM supplies a little rubber foot that the sock and pump sit on worked pretty slick and fit in the hanger well.
Pumps quiet compared to the walbro.
-
Right on! So, no bigger return line is needed?
-
Not for me.
-
Good to know! I figure with the 4.1 I should be fine too, hopefully.
-
Put the pump in tonight. Wow, what a difference! The car pulls way way better. The XP Armstrong pump is crap in comparison. My car always liked more fuel. I tried to buy a double pumper setup but Red talked me into an XP which was barely better than my normal Walbro 340.
-
Pretty quiet too
-
I did have to turn the pressure down and I got rid of the thin wires. Used the different end on the hanger the other one had a gap and didn't sit flat in the hanger.
-
What was the flowrate of the original EP-381 pump?
