It is hot in Texas and it isn't just in the summer time. I still run the oil cooler and trans cooler and two more aux trans coolers .

Not sure the engine oil has similar effects but I do know the oil does a lot of engine cooling.

Oil coolers are fine when actually necessary. However, remember why our cars were equipped with oil coolers in the first place: because the oil in 1986-7 sucked something horrible.  Contemporary synthetics will far exceed the performance of the needs of the engine (extreme heat and pressure) sans oil cooler.  My personal vehicle has been without one for over a decade without issue.  Plus, IIRC that particular oil cooler has a cold flow bypass in it that sends unfiltered oil into the engine.  If you insist on running an oil cooler get a modern adapter and run it outside of the radiator; unless you live in really cold climates and need to warm up your coolant/oil faster to get it to flow better... which is another good reason to use a quality synthetic oil.

Looking for a vendor that sells a reproduction limited plush carpet.  Is there one out there?  Been looking for a good bit today and even made some calls but it doesn't appear to exist.

GBODYPARTS sells the interior carpets in most colours...but prolly not the exact stuff you're looking for.

I used gbody when I did the white T's interior and I didn't know any better. Highway stars sells the same carpet from the same vendor for about $70 less. Gbody sells the same stuff for exactly what you would pay the vendor for it. Haven't figured out how highway stars can sell it for less but they do.  Spoke with them both today. Was hoping one of you gurus knew something else

Also got burned on an accufab regulator from the other site. Paid $80 for it shipped. Install it and have an accufab fuel sprinkler.  Ordered a new diaphragm this morning.  Those guys at accufab are real cool. Offered to rebuild the regulator and test it for just buying the diaphragm.  Would have to pay shipping both ways but hey, I thought was some decent customer service for folks from Cali

Jason...when you swap to the vacuum setup...go with the Russel SS braided brake lines. The 3 lines that replace the 3 flex hoses will stiffen the brake pedal up considerably.

I'll have to check out the Russels. Had some braided stainless lines on the white T and as Charlie will attest too, they weren't so Bueno...


I'm saving my dimes for another set of those TA performance race headers. I really like their crossover design with the band clamps and gaskets

Tried a pair of ATR headers on my car...wouldn't fit with the RJC downpipe. Port your stockers. :)
