15 years on the daily driver,  and 28 years on the one I don't drive anymore.

Congratulation s on your first....    :P   :cool;
I would have rather donated to find out the whole truth,  but at least the little bit I did send will help get the car rolling quicker than mine.   :icon_eyes:
One thing I did learn from a quick google search on welding and grinding, is that the Fire Marshall really is an idiot.   :068:

I have Carnival Glass from 1910 that looks a lot better than that car.   :icon_eyes:
Irridescent is a word not often found on a Buick site.   :cool;

That's the plan for the GN arm rest for the work commute, and a headliner for some added warmth in the winter.   :cool;

My feelings exactly it was only a 10 year old clamp too.   :P
Even the splash of POR15 on it didn't do it much good.   :icon_redface:
It's in a bad spot where the line comes out of the rail and then goes back in.
Clamp caught a lot of dirt, salt, and water over the years being against the frame rail and all exposed.
On to bigger problems getting a cup holder in the GN and an astroroof headliner from G body.

Well it looks like I was 100% wrong on the location and 100% correct as to the problem by guessing.
Leak was in the back where the pipe was repaired years ago with a short piece of hose.   It dripped down the frame rail to the front.
Anyhow after moving it to the driveway off the dirt and getting a pint of gas or so mopped up I found the culprit,  this:

Slapped on a new stainless non-fuel injection type hose clamp and all is good, I'm guessing the hose has another 5 years at least and the frame probably 2.   :O :rolleyes;

The cheesy, made from airbag install,  leftover heat shield has worked well for me,  I get about 75K out of the MOOG problem solver gold annodized rubber bushings on the daily drivers.
That's about 8 years up here in our small state.

Yup, clamps are cheap these days,  probably the reason you need 2 on every important connection.   :icon_eyes:
Found a "want to sell it?" note on it today.....    :O
They don't realize the parts and aftermarket stuff is worth a lot more than the rest of the car,  excepting the clocklike running original Buick built drivetrain which is still worth a few bucks too.   :cool;
But I will sell the old '88 Corsica they also left a note on.   :rock:

Nah,  you should see the feed line.   :O
I'll use the high psi. fuel injection hose unless it's rotted more than a foot or two.   :icon_eyes:

Yeah I'll do the hose trick and double clamp it.
The WE4 is mostly retired but still running and registered etc.
Emergency parts getter for the GN.

General Buick Tech / Fuel Return Line ?
« on: March 24 2012, 11:26:36 AM »
Anyone know exactly where the fuel return line runs near the passenger front tire?
Developed a rust leak there and I need to figure out a solution.
And yes I'm going to look too,  just trying to avoid the gasoline bath.   :rolleyes;

Check the dash lamps circuits gray wires including the easy to break and short shift indicator light wire in the console area.

The tail lamps fuse feeds the dimmer switch and dash lamps 5A fuse.

Usually the larger tail lamps fuse blows first for some reason when a dash lamp wire is shorted,  probably due to the dimmer rheostat.

There's nothing wrong with wire nuts if properly used especially if there's a nice lump of electrical tape on them.  :p

If it isn't the console light check for aftermarket gauge lamps shorted wires where they were added to the factory gray wiring.
