Just bought a set of HS 1.65's for my stock, fully ported, and clearanced , heads...tech guy at HS said he's 90% sure they will clear v/cover :icon_confused:              hmm...90%,does that mean it will only break 10% of my new rockers?

General Buick Tech / valve job cost...
« on: May 16 2013, 09:34:46 PM »
I will be getting a performance machine shop to do a 3 angle valve job and setting my pre-tested v/springs to my specific  heights with several variances.  Whats a fair price for this?     thanks.

« on: February 25 2013, 09:51:34 AM »
I presently run comp.980's  Switching to PAC 1215's and see the I/D and O/D are slightly different.  Anyone know if the retainers and keepers will still work?  thanks.

General Buick Tech / No start problem found....sort-of
« on: May 11 2012, 07:30:11 PM »
It always starts...excep t today.  Turned key and listened for the buzz from my year old D/werks pump....nota. Fuses all ok under dash and at alt./hotwire fuse too.  Went back to tank and checked/wiggled all connections/wiring, to and from hot wire relay with the ign./key on.  Being a little pissed,i punched the gas tank and the pump started!    I cant believe there is a loose wire inside the tank as it was gone over well when the new pump went in....nor can i believe the new pump has an issue.   Guess its gotta be one or the other?  which way would you lean.  Thanks.

General Buick Tech / Heas for Xmas
« on: December 21 2011, 09:31:06 PM »
Its time i stepped up the head program and let the new turbo breath.I knew it was too big for my combo when i got it but planned to grow into it. Trying to get my mind right on a couple things. I want the best flowing head i can use.Would that be the GN1 alumns...or are the race ported champion irons?    I recall an equation about cubes X head flow= usable RPM range...or something close to that...Also,I understand you need some decent spring pressure numbers to get the RPM's up into that usable range i would have with the new heads.I was thinking 5800 or so.   This is where i get lost.   Would i be leaving too much on the table with the 204/214 i have now?   can it endure any real seat/spring pressure?... and how much would that be 120-140? Dont realy want to go to a roller cam as i thought that 1000$ could be better spent.      any thoughts appreciated.

General Auto Tech / unpressurized coolant system?
« on: July 11 2011, 04:52:33 PM »
Can someone tell me why a radiator/coolant system is pressurized?   the reason i ask is my radiator cap has been missing for god knows how long....coolan t level looks a hair low.... doesn't leak or run hot(i have a decent gauge)...so it has me wondering why systems are pressurized.th anks

General Buick Tech / Better valve spring
« on: April 02 2011, 11:21:06 AM »
I'm looking for options other than a comp 980. I posted at the buick site and most are ok with comps.  I read where comps can be, and are, inconsistant.  My 204/214 is 4 years old and quiet. i have always run good oil and ZDDP. I was thinking 100/105 seat pressure would be ok. I like the idea of a GM part, like an LT1 spring ,but now i hear they can sell knock-offs as well.  any suggestions appreciated.
