rear sway bar adjustment
« on: June 06 2016, 02:37:26 PM »
I have the adjustable Hellwig bar and for racing, which hole should I be using of the 3. For now I have in the middle, would I be better off in the inward or in the end hole for racing? If weather is good, track day this Sunday and looking forward to seeing how much the new converter will help!!!

Go full stiff at the track.

Seems like the out hole would give the greatest stiffness. That is where it has the most leverage but the in hole I guess would make it stiffer as there is less rod to bend.

Give me a crash course in sway bar adjustment. I still think the 1 3/8" ATR copy is best for me as there isn't any adjustment.

That's correct, the inward hole makes the arm shorter so there is less leverage to twist the bar which creates the stiffest bar.  The bar is mounted differently than the ATR bar and that makes it more efficient like the H&R bar or the Wolfe racing bar.

Rich out of the 15 years I've driven with an ATR bar at least 5 years was with no front bar & it's ok like that but with a hollow front bar it really handles great!

I just have the stock ones on mine. I took the front off at the track once and thought I was gonna scrape the rocker when making a turn. I think some body bushings would do me well before I go putting more parts in.

I have bushings, new shocks & 2 air bags so they each add to the combo. Together they really help.

I took the front off last night and drove to work today to do some test runs tonight. with mine, with the front bar removed there is really very little difference, you can tell but its not much for just daily driving. I'm sure if you got aggressive it would show up more.

My car has a Hellwig bar and no front sway bar. I went to single adjustable front shocks so I can set them stiff for the street and handles quite well my buddy seems to think it's "way better than mine with both stock bars"
I back them way off at the track and have had a 1.69!60' on Nittos that apparently wont't hook.

I think the viagra up there in the colder climates has more power than Steve's does Larry.

Shorter links to the bar will cut overall body movement and sway. Hope that helps.
