Took an hour and a half to get the retaining ring off. It had rusted to the top of the fuel pump module. Fuck rust.
So we raced the go karts last night. I stuck the boys in the newer kart with the 4hp/torque converter/suspension vs me in the older 5hp/centri clutch/rigid frame. As I thought the kart with the torque converter will pull away until about 20mph then the older cart with the centri clutch will come flying around it. It seems that 4hp isn't enough to even get to the governor with the torque converter, it just chugs along. Downhill it'll cruise 30mph+ but uphill it'll struggle to get to 20mph, flat ground it's quick to 20, and then slowly will creep to 24ish.

There are different versions of torque converters, but they are really nice when set up right.  But, they cannot produce more hp on the top no matter what

A new belt and lubing the slides on the torque converter with dry lube made a huge difference. We raced the go karts again yesterday and the cart with the centrifugal clutch can’t hang anymore

I tried taking the clutch apart today but all the snap ring pliers I have are junk. I appears you can cut a few links out of the spring to tighten it back up and raise the engagement point some. Right now it’s just off idle, so any little bit would help.

I reworked a mini bike and I added a hd clutch from someone because I figured 200 lb riders were rough on it

We might have a hotrod.
9.2 seconds from the time I let go of the trans brake until I lifted, the GPS speed is showing 128mph. 13psi, nittos on the street.

The plan is to try and hit the track Saturday night.
I had a small leak on the turbo oil drain line that required me to remove the turbo. The exhaust vband on the turbo fell apart, so I’m hoping Amazon prime will come through.
I need some more runs to play with boost control, while boost held decently - I’m not sure it’s working as intended. I might just swap the springs in the wastegate so I get 12-14psi without having to worry about boost control at the track this time out, I’ve got plenty of other things to keep track of.

Parts showed up in time and that’s about all that went right today. For whatever reason I wasn’t supposed to go to the track today and that’s okay. I’ve got a trailer that needs completely rewired. I started at the plug and keep finding more more issues the further it dig. I gave up on that in time to drive the car over but I had to put it back into street mode and then it needed fuel. I topped off the tank and was greeted by the sound of e85 dripping on the ground. Looks like I didn’t get the fuel pump module sealed as good as I thought, it leaked before and I messed with it and thought it was fixed but I guess not.
So I’ve got some work to do - I will say I stuck another spring in the wastegate and it’s pretty rowdy.

Fixed one issue on the car, the fuel pressure regulator was only mounted to one intake bolt, and the -8an coupler fitting holding it to the fuel rail. Vibration loosened the coupling fitting - so I added an additional mount point to the bracket. It now bolts to the front of the cylinder head and an intake bolt. Now you can shake the car by the fuel pressure regulator.

I thought I had the trailer wiring tackled. Plugged it in and tested nothing. Pulled a light socket and I wasn't getting voltage, turns out these are led and need the polarity changed. I tested it and it appears to work. I need to reverse the polarity on the other side and I should be good.
