Title: 700-4R filter
Post by: Shimy87 on October 07 2015, 01:57:13 PM: I've been reading that this is a better filter to use as it picks up from the bottom, not the top. If I'm understanding it, you can remove the 4th gear pressure switch, install a 90 degree brass adapter and reinstall the switch and then the 700 filter will fit and then just reinstall the pan? Is this the deal or is it just a waste of time and effort?

Post by: Forzfed on October 07 2015, 03:59:17 PM: Do you have a deep pan? Better to have an extension tube that mounts as far back and as close to the bottom as possible. I have a unit like this that I bought from PTS, I really like it. Under hard acceleration there the filter is never starved of oil.

Post by: gusszgs on October 07 2015, 06:14:25 PM: I have a Hughes deep aluminum pan and the 700 filter fits perfect with it. I didn't change anything with the pressure switch, just heat shrinked over the connector so it wouldn't ground out to the filter body.

Post by: Forzfed on October 07 2015, 08:16:36 PM: You can also separate the two wires so they go on each side of your pickup, probably the cheapest solution. I've done that and put some plastic ties around the wire, both work.

See my build thread in the trans section for pix of the shrink wrap as James mentioned above. Working so far. I run it a quart over the full mark on the stick to prevent "sucking air".

WOW, I couldn't take that on! I see what you did with the shrink tube, I think that's what I'm going to do also so I can use that filter. Where did you end up putting your temp sensor, pan or output line?
