Title: Boost Issue
Post by: Scoobum on October 07 2018, 08:20:19 AM
This TR has other issues and I had the owner send Eric the PL file to get his opinion as well...the file's a mess. I'm not sure how the head gaskets are still in it. Anyway, leaving the line the boost is 4 psi...and 7 seconds later down the track it makes its way up to 20 psi...and takes another 3 seconds to move up to 23 psi...and then moves around from 24 to 25.9 psi to the 1/4 mark. The convertor is spec'd for the turbo...so he's removing the external gate and handing it to someone I trust for inspection. With the boost fluttering in high gear...and the KR I'm seeing from start to finish, I suspect the head gaskets are starting to leak. First things first. What's your thots on the boost taking forever to rise.

What do the manifolds look like? What external controller? Vac lines integrity?

Probably needs a leakdown to see about those cylinders. Or at least a compression check. If it is knocking as much as you say the bearings are probably pounded out of it so the hg is the easy part of what will soon be wrong with it.

ECM pulled a lot of timing in response to detonation and engine makes no power?
Significant air leak?
Super rich?
Exhaust system blockage such as bad cat?

No cat convertor...an d turbo style mufflers.

Alky probably coming on too early at the line.  Pull the turbine housing and have a look at the wastegate hole. May or may not be opened up for an external. Sounds like multiple issues here
