rebuild TA49
« on: September 06 2015, 12:22:35 PM »
My TA 49 is leaking oil and has shaft play.  There is no rubbing of the wheels onto the housings.   I can't get the nut loose on the compressor side, any tips on disassembly?  I tried clamping in a vice but it slips.

Thanks

I got it.  It broke the shaft off in the nut.   I will start a new thread about new turbo purchased options.

Put a call in to the Bison fellow. I bet he has some kind of solution.

What Rich said. Bison has 49's for $695.00 exchange. The CEA 5857 billet came out in 2009 which superceded the 44/49. Talk to Bison about your combination and your goals. He'll set you up. :)

I checked FT's site...and I think it's now called the 5858. I wish Precision would come out with a JB version of the 6466.

Make sure your shaft is good. :icon_lol:   If your shaft is good, you are good to go!

What rich and brad said. He's overhauled a 49 and a 44 for me with no issues. Great dude and reasonable. Heck I text him photos of turbos so he can identify them for me and he always gets back almost instantly. By the way, the 44 is available for purchase and the the 49 will be available after I get the barn engine installed but that may be a a while
