Some people complain about vacuum brakes. Were vacuum pumps ever tried?
-
I've seen complaints about vacuum brakes, but I've never seen a legitimate first hand complaint about vacuum brakes.
-
When I was running a 221 deg cam, I had a legit complaint. Two stops at low speed in a parking lot, for instance, and there were no brakes on the third try...well, no power brakes. Since I went to a roller cam with shorter duration, I have never had a need for more vacuum storage, or a pump.
the more I see of hydroboost brakes, the less I think of them. I think vacuum is more than adequate, but, if i had a cam large enuf that it would not make vacuum at low speed, I would go to manual brakes.

I like my hydroboost setup. But I'm sure vacuum is fine too. I know a lot of guy who use it.
-
I run vac on my Limited and can hold 15 psi at the line np. No issues, one of the best things I’ve done. Mind you I’m running the stock cam
In my GS I run an vac can by Comp and it works well.

TTA's run on Vacuum?
-
No, they run on gasoline, but vacuum helps them stop...

The TTA had vacuum brakes that it stopped running with.

I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words.I will go out in the snow and work on my car as penance :)(https://i.imgur.com/bp4Kbmp.jpg)

See Dick run. See Jane stop...

212/212 with drilled/slotted rotors, Hawk front pads and the illegal rear brake mods and coupled with line lock I can hold about 1000 pounds of boost on the line and the car stops quicker than the stock brake setup.

Buick fans are often like Lemmings. They chase the leader to the edge of the clift (see Dick Run, See Dick Jump, Don't see Dick dive into a hole on the edge of the clift while the rest of the pack go over the edge because Dick Knows)

He shouldn't be such a dick.

All my brake problems went away when I switched to vacuum. The power master I had was a turd that was always not working when I needed it.
-
My original PM never felt quite right, but, I have driven quite a few that felt great and stopped very well. I think I might have mine rebuilt, depending upon cost, and try it again if I had not left them behind when I moved out here.
