Title: Racetronix
Post by: daveismissing on October 03 2019, 09:06:51 AM
Much as they get slammed on the forums:
I placed an order- within TWO hours they called me to tell me one part was backordered but the rest was ready for pickup!
Those boys have a lot of fittings in their repertoire

I remember when I bought his heavy duty wiring for the pump hanger.  I tested it before I sealed up the tank and mounted it.

Then it refused to run so I dropped the tank, pulled the hanger out and one of the wires was hanging loose below the connector.  I looked at the hanger and one of the ears on the crimp was folded flat and the other side had been holding the wire by itself.  I got a hold of Racetronix and was promptly informed that they used military crimpers and carefully inspected each crimp so obviously, I broke it.  I have heard many such stories-Jack does not make mistakes.  I ended up butt soldering the wire to the connector.

Unless someone took over the company I will continue to hold the opinion that once a jackass, always a jackass

Jacks prices are in American dollars last time I ordered.

He sells a good product at a good price - he just doesn't have any after the sale support period. You bought it, you own it, it's up to you to make it work.

Racetronics have always maintained they are Not a vendor. If you want support buy from a parts vendor. They are not set up to provide that service but will sell direct.

The biggest thing I've seen about Jack on the boards is you can't call him. Not sure if that's the case still.

Some one posted that they had actually got them on the phone.

I recall at the time I was having problems that the only way they might talk to you was thru their own bulletin board system-if you were lucky.

I know a guy that phoned Jack's number and Jack snapped how did you get my number.

Another guy Glen RIP delivered a load of steel across the road and noticed the sign so he walked over and was asked how did he find the place. He wanted injectors so they took his cc number but shipped the injectors. NO over the counter sales.
But yea Jack doesn't like dealing with people.

He has counter sales guys now,and I think a warehouse/assembler guy so is mostly insulated from us rabble. I have been 3rd or 4th in line at the counter.Always been pleasant to me, but then I wasn't complaining? He can pull all the part numbers out of his head tho.

I called Racetronix once looking for some info on a sending unit for the Buick and had to leave a message.
Jack called me back, answered all my questions and then gave me the run down on what upgrades to do first on the car.
(TT chip, hot wire kit and all that kinda of stuff)
I'm not sure he was going to sell me the part I wanted, but he said I could pay the vendor and he would drop ship it and maybe save me a couple of bucks.
Ordered, received, installed and all worked well.
