When I worked at Tonawanda Engine Plant in '86, the engine families were BOC and CPC. Tonawanda was CPC which stood for Chevy-Pontiac-Canada Group. Our plant made engines for Chevys, Pontiacs and pick-ups made in Canada. We built he 2.0L straight 4 cyl, 2.8L and 4.3L V6's and 366, 427 and 454 BB V8's. No SB V8's. The other group was Buick-Olds-Cadillac. I would expect to see 4.1's in those cars.
Of course there was also some cross breeding, most notably the Turbo Trans Am. It looks like a couple of Ponchos could be had with the 4.1L.
