Track prep obviously comes into play. What's more important is practising launching and getting seat time.
Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don't last, but BAD GUYS do!

Will Nitto's be soft enough to get me 1.6 60ft times?

People do, but,  M/T or one of the other super soft tires will be easier....but, as Brad pointed out, the driver is usually a bigger part of the equation than the tire.

If you get a mIckey, MH, Hoosier, or whatever...put them on a separate set of wheels and use them only at the strip

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

For the once a year I get to the track I dont know if I wana spend the money. From what im reading if I get better at launching (practice more) and tune it better ( appears I have left some on the table) I should be in the 12's next time. I only need to pick up 3 tenths. Common sence may control my spending this time

On a 17" Nitto I doubt you can get to that 60 foot...
