running 93, turn the alky down to 4 and started to knock, so i went up to 5 and it was ok.

what kinda front mount?  gn1 performance extreme

It only picked up 20 mph in the last half...I would have expected closer to 24.

Tell me about this turbo again.  Where did it come from? stock upgraded 85 turbo. limit engineering

How about the valve springs?  Did you replace them?  Or know what kinda pressure they are putting out? I didn't replace the springs, from the paper work i have from the previous owner the spring suggested for the cam were 100# closed and 234# open. assuming that he put what was suggested 12 years ago, that is what is in there

Did you notice your O2s on the top end? 753 at the trap
Steve I really think that this turbo is holding me back, being that i have alot of compressor surge something tells me that it is working to hard

Well, compressor surge is typical of some turbos and intercooler combinations so I don't think you can take that as a sign of the turbo working hard.  I have a Craig 45 out in the shop that will shake the car apart at very light throttle, but, it is a running fool at wot.  the 45 is equivalent of a 63E from others.

Now, I don't know what an upgraded hot air turbo is equal to, but, I suspect it is pretty small.  With that cam and ported heads, that thing should really start making some power around 4500 rpm IF the turbo can pump the air.

Your O2s are about right and it will take a bit more gas to go more on the boost, I suspect.  If the turbo is too small, it will not respond to more boost, I think.

Would not hurt to pull a valve spring and test it.  As old as they are, I would guess they have lost quite a bit of pressure and that can make one lay down in third as they rev slower.   I would like to see 85# or so.

What stall converter are you running...or what does it brake stall against the pedal rpmwise?  Thinking what kind of turbo would work with it.

There is a couple of tenths in your short times to be had, but, right now, we need some mph.

i did not notice any difference from 20psi to 24psi, the converter is 9 1/2- 2800, I dont know the rpm it will stall but at 3 psi of boost it wants to move the car or break tires.

sounds as tight as the 9.5" that I have...it is supposed to be 3400 but it ain't happening.

If you saw no increase, then you are out of turbo unless the springs are bad and I doubt they are that bad....but I cannot be sure.

I would like to see at least six pounds of boost before the tires start to spin....it will depend on what tires you have and also how well the rear brakes are adjusted....Yo u can try using the ebrake to see if it will do better.

With that converter a Te44, TA49, or the new 5831 which replaces the first two.....would be a good match.

Could be major issues like trans slippage/flaring, valve springs, turbo, or just tuning. What was timing set at? Your 1.8 60ft time is not bad to start with. Helped many with a lot worse and still hit the 11's.  Did you check and see if your getting full throttle opening with the gas pedal?  What is a upgraded 85 turbo? little more info on that.

Timing is at 132 on scanmaster, I am getting full throttle open on the blade, the turbo was upgraded buy Limit Eng. http://www.limitengineering.com/buick  click here

Strange, that turbo is listed the same flow as a 44 or 49 so it should not be laying down on you if all is good.

Someday when you are bored, pull a valve spring, or two, and see what they are doing

Why would you pull a head?  Remove the rocker shaft, Shoot some air in the cylinder, pull the spring
