Title: Advice For Air Conditioning Compressor
Post by: Scoobum on December 29 2013, 08:27:25 AM
The clutch in the air conditioning compressor in my 94 Impala SS smoked itself in late summer...so I'm looking for a good quality replacement unit. Open to suggestions... thanks.

Check all the fast food parts houses and see if you can find just the clutch.  Years ago I replaced the clutch unit on my ex's Camaro for about $50.  It might be the same part.

One often needs special tools for the clutch, no?

When I Swapped out Aprils A/C clutch, I needed a ratchet, socket and the biggest gear puller I could find....

...turns out I needed snap ring pliers and NOT the biggest gear puller I could find  :)

Moral of the story, a 4th gen camaro can be done with a couple of hand tools.  Odds are your car is the same setup.
