My son Thomas has been wanting to enter a Tuff truck competition at one of the local tractor pull tracks. Last night he pulled it off in a Chev. Astro Van. Here's the link, click on the June 26, 2011 mud bog-tough truck pic, scroll down a little and look for the 3 Astro van pics. Nice air, huh? And to think he races my Buick. He ran a 21 second run against the winner's 19 sec. https://www.facebook.com/buckmotorsports?sk=photos

Interesting; some would say simpler life?  Know some backwoods people that are smarter than the highly educated. Oh far more pleasant to be around too, Oh well . . .

EXACTLY

Dunno what you read into our comments, I loath big city environs. They call me a hermit.
We just ran with the theme you gave us in the thread title for fun.  :sad;

Living near a large metropolis, If I stop at a coffee shop the best I get from the counter staff are grunts as I inexcusably force them to do their job and serve me Java.

Travel 30 miles out in any direction  ( well not the one that puts you in the middle of Lake Ontario) and it is entirely different. People are actually friendly, and willing to talk AND serve.

I'm moving to Hickville when I retire (and if they'll have me)

So anyway, I live right in the middle of Amish Country, Lancaster County PA. We have, like you mentioned, city life: Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York. Drive a couple miles and you have carnivals, fairs, dirt tracks, mud bogs, tuff trucks, tractor pulls.....like you flipped a switch. I have good friends in both parts. My wife works for the USDA so we get to see it all. We even get to D.C. once in a while. Variation in life is real interesting, never boring.

Oh please send me some tasty kake buterscotch krimpets and hoggie rolls. :supz: Spent time as a kid in Westchester and went to camp near Harrisburg. :D  Still miss true philly cheesesteaks and Joes pizza after all these years. :sad;
