Well, Glen is correct...any one that spends enuf time reading will know that universally added zddp is not needed.

The requirement depends upon the amount of zddp in the oil being used as well as the spring pressure being applied to the cam.

If one reads all the articles out there that started the scare, one notices that they were talking about high performance cams with very high spring pressures...no t cams like ours...and imported lifters that were not properly hardened.

What we see in play here is a vendor and a bulletin board that are in collusion with one another to sell a product.

It is strange that we don't see a tremendous rash of failures from all those that have not been "enlightened" as to the miraculous benefits of excessive zddp.   Maybe those GM engineers and oil company  engineers are really stupid, but, the data do not support that.

Every one and their uncle is selling zddp enriched oils these days...I see Edelbrock is the latest to jump on the bandwagon...ce rtainly no reason to buy magic in a bottle that may actually upset the chemical balance in the original oil.

The next big product for the Buick market will be zddp enriched Kool-Aid.  It will increase the urea in your urine and allow you to pee directly into your diesel's gas tank to reduce emissions.

Wow...I just read that thread.  If it's not curtailed, that thread is destined to be one of those "epic" ugly "fail" threads.

Scott Keller from gnttype doesn't put zddp in his unopened stock long block t, and has raced it exclusively for years. couple others in the local club with mostly stock or all stock high mile gns don't use it either. I've had this discussion with them before and they all told me I'd be the first one they'll report to when they have any type of valve train failure. lol!
I've been running royal purple for quite a while, and at this point, I'm only still doing so cause I get a good deal on it.
When I'm in Rome, they do as I do

Who is "Glen"?  And Micale and others have their panties in a bunch because someone is suggesting that the additive that Clark sells isn't needed and/or can cause damage?
