« on: December 13 2019, 07:49:21 PM »
Hey Earl I'm going to be restoring my SRX440 and was thinking of getting some VForce3 Reed Valves.  What do you think?  Are there better ones out there?  I know some like the factory reeds.

What do you think of this?  Something seems fishy and it's not your date!  My 85 has less miles and no patina on it.  I guess mine should be worth $18k. :rolleyes; https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-Yamaha-RZ350/283689898795?hash=item420d3c532b:g:ZM8AAOSwgrBd29 5l

IHADAV8 Playground / Hey Earl

Do you think you can out corner a Harley on your TZ?  :icon_lol:
I was talking to a guy at work and I telling him how Harley's aren't designed to corner.  He goes on about counter steering and how he knows guys that can go fast on their HOG.  I told him it's easier to throw 300lbs around a corner compared to 800 lbs.  I told him I believe in counter balancing because when I come out of a corner drifting with my front tire in the air counter steering ain't doing crap for me.  Then I had to explain the 2 stroke advantage of not needing a slipper clutch.
I just watched a video of Harley beating sports bike around corners.  The guy did go somewhat fast for a Harley but he was braking going into a corner!!  The only time I have to brake going into a corner is if someone is in front of me.  One of the fastest guys on the road course here, dad told him never brake going into corners.  Especially on a light weight 2 stroke that he rides!
Thoughts, comments, laughter?

IHADAV8 Playground / My Buddy's 55 Chevy
« on: March 02 2019, 06:22:31 PM »
Here are some pics of an old buddy's 55 Chevy.  He's been building it for almost 10 years.  This thing is beautiful.  He is an ex drag racer and soon to get back into drag racing.  The car has a 454 with aluminum heads, solid lifter cam, jericho 5spd, Ford 9".  Minnie tub, all the trick suspension, full roll cage.

General Buick Tech / Torque Plates
« on: February 27 2019, 10:35:50 AM »
I think I finally found a good engine builder since Earl won't move to Canada!

My buddy has a factory Plymouth GTX 426 hemi 4 spd car.  He took it to a local guy that just started a machine shop to go through the motor that was suppose to have a fresh rebuild.  He found a few issues with it.  He noticed that the rings weren't sealing in certain locations in the bore and those locations lined up with the studs in the head.  He came to the conclusion that however did the cylinders did not use the bolts or studs that were suppose to be on the heads on the torque plate.  He also likes to put all the head bolts under tension to see if they are even and if not tensions them to all the same value prior to install.

Sounds good to me.  What do you think, Earl?

IHADAV8 Playground / Filters?
« on: February 25 2019, 03:31:58 PM »
I'm thinking of changing oil filters.  I currently use the NAPA gold.  Came across this article.  Most have the Mobil 1 filters close to the top.  But of course there are so many different opinions.  What filters are you guys using?

Do you guys know of anywhere I can order the base plate, applicator and stuff to make my own GNX guages?  I tried http://www.gnrestoration.com/gnx-parts/

I phoned and sent an email but got no reply.  Is there anyone else that can set a guy up?

Is it just me or does this thing not look so low milage?  Looks painted, its missing emblems.  Has vac brakes.  I'm thinking this guy has to add a 1 in front of the odometer.
