I'd clean it, port it, and run it.

Nope. 100% horseshit.
If the rod caps can be that out of whack, the bolts are WAAAAAAY messed up. I think my side clearance is .045" on #6.....    Be kinda hard for a cap to hang that far out with less than .002" bearing clearance.  (we have split pin cranks too. no shared journals for us).

Next time you watch HorsepowerTV think to your self "advertisement, advertisement, advertisement".

Charlie, you probably scared off Chip Foose

If that's the case he dodged a bullet.

While access is easy (giggity) it would be a good time to fab up a starter strap.

* SuperSix is stupid

What's a starter strap?

Looks like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1956-1957-CHEVY-STARTER-MOTOR-SUPPORT-BRACKET-NEW-/130617689380?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e696bc524

Except it's only a strap of metal and doesn't cost $15. It runs from the stud on your starter motor up to the block.

I wondered how they sold the bolt kits so cheap... Those long bolts are freakin pricy. I made my kits with SS socket head cap screws and they added up quick! I was starting to feel bad about wanting $100 for mine.

On that top water pump bolt, you're probably OK. It's actually a large metric fastener. It seems like it's 8mm. I'll have to dig out my bolt kit notes to make sure.

Damn that's a lot of moly!   During the first oil change I'd probably drop the pan and clean out the layer of that stuff that's going to be on the bottom of the pan.

When I built my engine last year I used the minimal amount of moly on my ARP head washers and main studs. When I pulled the engine two months ago to upgrade the head gaskets and inspect the bottom end the pan was covered in that goop. Took almost a whole can of parts cleaner to get my pan cleaned out.

Normally I wouldn't worry about a lubricant laying in the pan but moly molecules are large enough to get caught by the oil filter and put it into bypass. Not what you want when work hardening 12 cam lobes and tappets!

Look on the inside of your timing cover...   on the boss the cam sensor pokes though is a boss of aluminum of unknown use.

The rollmasters are known to hit that flap of metal. A die grinder with a reinforced cutoff wheel will make quicker work of removing it (but smaller chips). a normal doublecut carbide burr will knock it down as well.

I take a small socket and a vise to squish the lifters that don't move. Thick goo will spurt out and everything seems to be fine after that.

There's no reason to replace the adapter unless you have to.

That being said look VERY closely at the area around the oval hole. From your pictures it looks like your paper might have curled up and took a little extra. That's the pressure feed for the engine. If that's low you might end up with a undercarriage anti-rust agent.
