IHADAV8 Playground / Custom builder bullshit
« on: February 06 2023, 11:10:29 PM »
Was watching this Jay Leno's Garage video on Youtube - some company in Fl bilds custom Broncos and now old Ford trucks.

Watch this and tell me if these vehicles are worth anywhere NEAR the MSRP they mention..

Easy for Leno to say "Thant's not bad!".

Am I wrong that i think these are WAY overpriced?

IHADAV8 Playground / Vortex Buicks sighting on Youtube - Junkyard Digs
« on: October 31 2021, 01:25:25 AM »
Was watching Junkyard Digs on Youtube - he's got a third part of his repairs on a Grand National, and I noticed he referenced Steve's guide on his channel. We made it baby! (not really, but still cool to see).
3rd video (WHere he mentions Vortex) https://youtu.be/_Pz2v1pZTWU?t=3206 (53:26 in)

1st video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfX3jtpXAbE
2nd video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPyZGHnW6EM

Some issues overall, calling the Powermaster system Hydroboost, etc, but overall - a fun channel to watch, and I have to respect the guy's hustle.

Anyone from the board going? I recently moved to south central Tennessee, and plan to go and sell what Buick parts I still have, including the 13k spare motor I have.

General Buick Tech / Window motor circuit breaker
« on: November 20 2019, 04:23:49 PM »
What is it's function? Is that the component that cuts current to the motor once it reaches the end of travel? If I want to increase the voltage and current to the motor to speed them up, would I have to use a higher value breaker?

General Auto Tech / Ingenious way to check compression...
« on: September 20 2019, 11:20:13 PM »
Watched a Youtube video - guy wanted to know compression in all cylinders. Has a system that only requires you pull one plug, and also monitor starter current. I assume you need a known-good cylinder. The one cylinder has a pressure transducer threaded into the spark plug hole. It measures starter current draw for each cylinder, based on the known good cylinder. Using an algorithm, using the know good cylinder pressure and current draw, it can calculate the compression ratio for the other cylinders.
https://youtu.be/hFs91VXnEHY?t=1052 (Compression testing starts @ 7:33 if times link doesn't work)

This guy is great to watch, his diagnostic skills are amazing.
Cool!

IHADAV8 Playground / Jeremy (AKA nocooler)
« on: July 08 2019, 08:33:06 PM »
Just wanted to say how much of an awesome help he has been.

I've been running/ignoring/managing this site for over a decade, a silly site opened as a joke, since there were so many Turbo Buick message boards.

It's turned out to be a long-term destination for some amazing Turbo Buick "gurus", biggest being my friend Steve Wood. I never tried or card about being the biggest, and have never made a dime off of this site. But to see the handful of amazing people come together, and either get help with their cars, or life in general, has made me feel great.

Recently, I left my employ that was giving me free hosting (and may still be), but I wanted to move the board to make sure service was uninterrupted. It has been MANY years since I dabbled with/programmed the old site, and asked Jeremy for help. He has absolutely taken the task and ran with it, resulting in the amazing venue we still enjoy today. Yes - a small community, but a close community, and as of recently, all thanks to Jeremy.

Please join me in thanking him for his efforts - although we have never met, I would love to one day have a old beer with the man - he went above and beyond to help keep this tiny corner of the Buick world operating without interruption.

Thank YOU Jeremy!!!

And thanks to all of the members that stick around, making this a quiet respite in the corner of the Internet, away from paid-for sponsored message boards.

Vendor Info, Steals And Deals! / Full Throttle banner removed
« on: July 08 2019, 04:45:53 PM »
Due to some ongoing issues they seem to be having fulfilling orders, I had their banner removed. Buy from them at your own peril. Sad to see, I thought they were one of the good ones.

IHADAV8 Playground / Youtube mechanics suck
« on: March 20 2019, 07:08:00 PM »
Just update my sig with my 2007 F150's mileage - 270k. Doesn't use or leak a drop of oil, always reliable.

So I'm on Youtube, and see a video by the "Car Wizard" about how bad these motors are. (Car Wizard is known as he's Hoovie's Garage's mechanic, good channel to check out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdEczn3MVkx_4PnMZ10MVFA ) so I watch it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcN_WcGr4BU

Sooo.. you're client bought a truck that someone hadn't taken care of, sludge clogs oil passages, and it's Ford's fault? Can't you pull the heads, clean them, and install new phasers? You have to replace the entire engine? Reason #124398167243986712 I learned how to fix my own shit.

Maybe I should open a shop, it's like stealing money.  :rolleyes;

Message Board Announcements / Message board updates
« on: July 05 2018, 02:39:31 PM »
Hello, folks.

I have recruited nocooler to help with the board. He is now an administrator as wel. (Be nice to him  :icon_lol:)

I believe he already fixed the picture upload issue.

Other things he will be addressing:
1. Update Simple Machines forum version
2. Get Tapatalk fixed.

If there's any other issues you are aware of, please PM me or Jeremy.

Thanks!
Mark

Pretty goddamn amazing, they have a lot of really hard to find items, cheap. I'm sure this will rock the Buick vendor community, I hope so.

The printed catalog is much better than their site, but most, if not all parts are available online. Pics/site sucks, IMO.
