General Auto Tech / Re: Racetronix« on: October 05 2019, 12:03:58 PM »
I called Racetronix once looking for some info on a sending unit for the Buick and had to leave a message.
Jack called me back, answered all my questions and then gave me the run down on what upgrades to do first on the car. (TT chip, hot wire kit and all that kinda of stuff) I'm not sure he was going to sell me the part I wanted, but he said I could pay the vendor and he would drop ship it and maybe save me a couple of bucks. Ordered, received, installed and all worked well. 19

A/C, Heating and Cooling / Re: Heater box sealing« on: June 19 2019, 11:30:17 AM »I used some kind of weatherstrippi ng seal that came in strips arrayed on a waxy paper...forget what it was called. May have been by 3M? strip caulk? Hey you guys thanks for all the input/help. 3M strip caulk it is then. I'll throw the link below just to be sure I'm using the right stuff. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/MMM08578 Thanks again. 23
A/C, Heating and Cooling / Re: Heater box sealing« on: June 18 2019, 04:01:28 PM »That'll work as long as you never want to get that heater box off again. I definitely would like to get that heater box off in the future. If not for me then for the next guy who owns this car. So what would be good to use then? Thanks you guys 24
A/C, Heating and Cooling / Re: Heater box sealing« on: June 16 2019, 06:57:35 PM »"3M strip caulk " might work? I was going to use that strip caulk for the lower part of the box. But when looking for the Butyl tape you mentioned earlier I did find this. A/C, Heating and Cooling / Heater box sealing« on: June 16 2019, 03:39:17 PM »
I'm looking for what would be best to use to seal the outside top of the heater/AC box at the firewall.
OEM looked like a thick tar that has harden over the years. Kinda thought of maybe using a black seam sealer and or Windshield sealant or something similar? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks 27

I bought this one last year, and it seemed to work good.

General Buick Tech / Re: SM readings« on: June 20 2018, 01:34:30 PM »Coolant pretty high but it could be sitting and have a stock stat in it. I kinda thought it idles just a bit rough, But I'm comparing it to my 13 Jeep...LOL Other wise it runs and drives great. I hope to run into Frozfed one of these days and get his opinion? I just got the car last fall and I'm slowly learning and going though it. Is the OEM stat a 180? Numbers are fine. Post the numbers again when you get Erics chip...and don't go WOT with that stock chip. I'm not interested in driving to Winterpeg to change head gaskets. No worries I won't hit WOT, I'll hang tough till I install the new pump, and order a chip and injectors. Slow but sure I'll get it all done. 30

Hello
New GN owner here. Hook up a Scanmaster today and was wondering what you guys thought about the readings. With the exception of a new Densco O2 sensor and 2 breathers for the valve covers, and some NGK spark plugs I noticed. Its a very original 87 GN with 57k Miles or 94k Kms for us Canadians. In park idling in the garage after a short drive. Closed loop O2V 302-785 MAF 5 LV8 37-39 Volts 13.3 13.4 INT 122-129 BLM 131 Coolant 182 Air Temp 96 RPM 775 TPS .40 IAC 11-13 O2CC 120 Thanks Norm |
