tt chip setting

Is the timing set at 18 for a chip for 93 octane. I will be tuning for alchy soon and dont know where im starting
87 GN, K&N cold air, gutted cat, TT 5.7 chip, AFPR, 340 Walbro w/ hotwire, 60 LBS injectors, 981 valve springs, 206/206 Cam, RJC Powerplate, LS1 MAF & translator, Vacuum brakes, Hellwig rear sway bar, Energy suspension poly bushings, Razors Alky, Pypes exhaust, 5931 turbo, CK9.5 converter

I think Eric normally writes the timing on the chip tag...if there is any doubt, drop him a note with the chip number and your name so he can look it up...but, pretty sure he uses the same settings on most of the chips he does

If you have powerlogger, you can look at the timing graph and see for yourself

Erics alky chip WOT default timing is 20.5 degrees on PL.

pretty sure it is normally 23 in 1/2 and 21 in 3/4 by design but I don't know what the non alky version is...pretty sure a search of his board will give that answer but I would just look on the chip label

and yeah, I think I have seen 20.5 on the pl dump

Steve, I'm seeing 23 degrees in 1st/2nd on PL with my alky chip. Eric always labels his chips.

from my reading, if I stick with this chip, it sounds like the smart thing to do is leave timing alone, get fuel numbers in the 780 range with boost at my goal setting of 22-23LBS, then move timing toward the 23/21 range watching for knock?

I descided just getting a new alky chip was best idea, as soon as I find out the stall of my converter I can order it. better safe than sorry

don't think you really need the stall for this purpose, but put the car in drive, foot on the brake, mash down on the gas until the car starts to move in spite of the brakes being on and look at the sm to see what rpm that is..use that for the stall

The place that did my tranny rebuild told me its a 2000 stall? That dosent seem correct to me, if i remember right when I test/tune, the car overcomes the brakes about 2700/2800.
 
Stupid question time. I'm going to check it tonight. You say "mash down on the gas"..... so quickly step into it or ease into it while watching the rpm on the SM. Or dosent it make a difference? Also is it the rpm when " the car actually moves" or when it starts to "lean into the brakes"

when it starts to turn the tire against the brakes.  I normally ease into it so I don't run over something
