Thanks Steve,

The miss is very small and only noticable when driving, in 4th with converter locked. You cant tell it has an issue at idle. Way back, soon after I got it running and discovered the problem I had the injestors proffesionally cleaned and  I did swap the coil and wires from other car and put new plugs in at the same time. miss gone with the parts from other car so I bought a new coil and plug wires then for this car. It got better but I did still notice it. Yesterday, the trans shop fixed the hard shifiting issue and when I picked it up he mentioned the miss and said he had alot of cars coming in a few years ago with a miss and usually it was a bad plug wire with people that just put new wires on. He thought it was from how they bend them tightly to fit in boxes. I pulled every one last night and while I held the tester I had my son bend around each wire from end to end to see if there was a bad place somwhere that was causing this.....readi ng remained constant with each one?

I guess this time I will put old wires on and keep new coil and see what happens, if it remains must be coil even though it tests well??

The car has a miss and transmission guy thought maybe plug wires. I have felt this miss for quite a while. I checked coil and it's 13 ohms across each, as expected as its new. Also plug wires are new. I checked them and each one reads .008 to .010 depending on length. I also kept the autolight wires that came on the car as they looked good. I tested those and they read 5.25 to 5.75 on the meter. Why are they so much higher? Both 7mm.

Anyone make a replacement? I know you can rebuild the mast cable but the motor is shot also.

Well disconnected from turbo and checked with a straight edge and seemed good, made a new gasket and used some orange hi temp silicone on each side. Put back together, didn't tighten up real tight, let it cure overnight and final tightened it today. Cleaned everything real good with degreaser and water spray.......st ill has a small drip hanging off the lower bolt head. No cracks in pipe.. Looks like I'm going to have to do the sandpaper method to ensure flatness. I can't believe with a gasket and silicone this thing still leaks!!!

This thing has always leaked a bit so got ambitious and decided to put a new gasket in it. Leaks worse now! Going to remove whole thing and see if its cracked....... oil shows up on top of gasket that sticks out a little so don't think its cracked. Maybe its warped a little???  Pain in the ass to get to!!

General Buick Tech / Re: Transmission Line Heat Shield

I think that part you have circled in the original post isnt a heat shield, its just a "bracket" that keeps the lines in place and wont let them sag over by the exhaust. Its to small to sheild much of anything.

Ed's link is a nice piece, will look proper but if your missing the metal stand you will have to make one again. Steves idea works great also, I saw an episode of Roadkill where he makes plug wire separators out of zipties that looks good and works well also, did it on the car I'm fighting with now.

Update on this...... sort of. Determined car has a Transgo shift kit in it and after many calls looks like the shop that did the work set it up very aggressively. Transgo said if i go back to the stock servo it should make it much better. Lucky for me, the local trans shop has the correct used stock part. They can do the work in a few weeks so fingers crossed this does the trick. I have the same Transgo kit in my car and its been great, turns out that the shop in my town actually worked with Transgo developing these.....luck y again!
