The CEA turbo's were a game changer. I cut my teeth with Dusty Bradford on the other board about torque convertors. I talked to Patrick as soon as the CEA turbos came out. Joe, my engine builder/friend had a 16930 that Patrick said would work nice with the 6262. Went out and cracked off an 11.5 at 121 on the first pass on 20 PSI. My home track has a short shutoff so I got moved to 1/8th mile Sportsman Class. I never even looked at 1/8th mile numbers until my first dial in run. Car was a turd in the 1/8th and short time. A light went off in my head so I took a look at the 02 numbers at the shift points. Think it was in the 830's. Dialed the low gear fueling down and business picked up. I went back to my NA days spinning the distributor a few degrees for a little more timing would wake it up. Applied that to these engines...same thing. Erics default timing for his race chip was 28-26. I slowly moved the timing up to as much as 34 degrees of low gear...and things really got rolling...exce pt 60 foot. I got Dan Keller to video the rear quarter and what I saw was the rear bottoming and unloading the tires. Threw a pair of rear single adjustables on and went for an evening test session and kept dialing them firmer on each launch and I was into the 1/5's. Getting these cars through the 330 is everything. High gear is easy. Throw enough fuel at your desired boost level so it doesn't hurt itself. Oh, and stay away from cool guy parts and snake oil salesmen.

As far as convertors, the PTC race convertors are the hot ticket...spec'd by Dusty of course. FYI. Patrick is back at Precision again.

The engineers got it right with these cars. The only weak link is the transmission.. .and owners that don't comprehend that the electrical/fuel system has to be up to snuff.

Steve - If it comes in a thunderbolt sign me up!

Pretty sure Brad was saying to buy once cry once - rather than incremental upgrades.

Yeah, I started out with stockers, then 50's, 60's then 80's. If I was to do it again I'd go to 80's just for the street. These cars were a huge learning curve for me...took me awhile to figure them out. There were several guys in Toronto I mistakenly listened to that at the end of the day didn't know shit.

I remember Brad!
Steve - he had a 05 2500? that he towed his enclosed trailer and Grand National in. It's the one they plucked from in front of his house.

I could write a best seller about what went on about that and the stealathon that guy did with those trucks across Canada to get to BC and then him coming back, stealing a Suburban, and then rolling it in a police chase.

That it does

A 5 minute talk with Patrick Rubio and he'd grab a stocker and put it back on.

I am afraid you may end up regretting not using a stock return line... those aftermarket substitutes don't work worth a damn.  We learn from other people's experiences hopefully

Yeah, but it looks cool!

That would be the one. Found out how easy they are to steal. TR's are even easier.

That year of GMC is easily stolen. Ask me how I know.

I  used the cheapass fuel filters from the local parts store and had zero issues with them...and I swapped a new pump and filter in every spring before the race season fired up.

10
Those fuel lines connections can be a whore...they'll wanna spin the line. Spray the fuck out of them with WD-40 24 hours in advance...and use the proper line wrenches. If it wants to spin the line spray it with WD-40 and wait. This ain't your DD so take your time.

The turbo drain line is definitely leaking. That's my next hurdle to clear up. Smh. I switched over to studs which makes the job a little easier but the leak is still present. The drain hose I'm certain I can address.

If you're using a cool guy return line...don't. The stocker is ribbed for a reason. Patrick Rubio can tell you why. Jason may have return line gaskets.

12
That rust is gonna be everywhere. Swap in a new fuel filter. I'd pull the injectors and have them cleaned.

Phil, if you can't get the oil leak stopped, you can use the Right Stuff. I had the same problem and I tried every fukn gasket on the planet. Be prepared to use a crow bar to get the rocker covers off though.

14
I you wanna run a cheap pump, then I have videos on how to change head gaskets.

255 with 80's took me well into 6's in the 1/8th with race gas. The 340 might need a larger return line. Some get away without it. Guys on the other board are saying some of the E85 they get is lower. It's a crapshoot. If you're gonna run E85 I'm fairly certain you need bigger lines...and possibly a 450 pump. Cruz and other vendors sell the larger lines. Racetronix is here in Canada in Scarborough. Expect the shipping to be a little slower getting to you.
