Not being a cool guy, not looking to get this car over stock boost ( its for my kid) and not throwing any cool parts at it, I did too much of that on mine  just trying to sort out some issues. I fought for a few weeks trying to get a scanmaster G and a powerlogger that came with the car to work last summer. The scanmaster works great, powerlogger is older and Eric said it wont ....and computer stuff is my nemisis :013:.

I tried Steves idea of videoing the scanmaster, its a scanmaster G and it must have a LED display so when you video it the display flashes in the video and you cant really read it which is a bummer

Currently no knock at like partial throttle 8 lbs of boost thru shifts, from what I can see at 12 lbs of boost thru shifts the worst I see is .8 retard at 45-50 MPH and I run it up to 80 ish mph.

I think its hearing something at the shift as if its real detonation it should continue to climb or even stay at .8 and recall that number at a higher MPH, its not so that leads me back to it hearing something at the shift.

Steve mentioned getting lean at the shift, watching the scanmaster O2's at the shift theyare in the 770 range so again I dont think thats to lean?

is there such a thing as too much oil pressure? I think I remember on a cold start with 20W50 it was 70ish LBS, warm cruise 45-50ish

Mark put new motor and trans mounts in car but they are cheap so replacing them. We just put a Pypes dual exhaust on the cars and no clearence or hitting issues there.

General Buick Tech / oil pressure??
« on: July 21 2022, 01:28:54 PM »
Hey guys, heres whats on my brain now, want your guys opinion. Currently I run 10W30 and with hot car I have 35 lbs pressure at cruise and about 20 at idle. I think that is probably fine. Car has 71,000 miles. I have run 20W50 in the past and it really brings up the pressure at cruise and idle. Was overthinking this but due for a oil change and wondered if there is any downside to going with the 20W50 and the higher pressure? Was thinking with the higher miles and probably some larger tolerences from my beating on the car it might be a good idea. Also the 20 lbs at idle just bugs me even though I think thats fine?? What are your opinions? Thanks as always!

Could it be the rear end. If I remove the driveshaft how much "play" should be there? Like if it is engaging the gear at a marked 12 o'clock forward, how far backwards should I turn it before it engages backwards...if that makes sence

Messing with kids car again. Seems like at the 2-3 shift the car is sensing knock. 1-2 & 3-4 are smooth but 2-3 is harsh. I dropped tranny pan to confirm tv cable is adjusted correctly. Any ideas what else this might be??

The one thing I wish I would have done differently is putting some sort of moisture barrier and insulation under/around the concrete flooring. But I don’t know if that’s stop the floor from sweating

it dosent, I have heated floor, its got 4 inched of insulation below it and when its humid it sweats. You saved alot of cash not doing it!
