ATTN: Steve, RE: Alternator Rebuild Kit
« on: November 04 2021, 01:32:40 PM »
Steve,

Will this rebuild kit work with the CS144 typically found in '87 Turbo Regal?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/142984342064

I see mention of an "early" & "later" model CS144. Haven't found an explanation of the differences.

Thank you.

The second gen CS144 came out in 1992.  Our cars were the first generation model.  Looks to me like that is the second gen kit.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

How can you tell the difference?

the ebay ad says this:

THIS PREMIUM KIT IS TO UPGRADE LATE VERSION OF THE DELCO CS144 ALTERNATOR TO 200 AMPS

Our cars had the early version of the CS144.  I am interpreting "late version" as being the second gen

Thank you. Looks like a different rear casing, bearing, battery post & fan assembly.

In the process of upgrading electrical. New battery, starter & alternator. Running two cooling fans on radiator & probably add another to trans cooler.

Unfortunately I do not. Try contacting the seller through the link in the first post. It just arrived this evening.
