Stop by my place. Coyotes are getting bold. They're coming up from the creek at nite...sounded awful close the other morning around 2am.

Nice! Send them to me. I'll keep them for about 15 years and report back to you.  :068:  :icon_kidra:

Gotta love the .40 (Ok, some don't) You like the small and fast theory? You can go that way. You like the heavy bullet theory? You can go that way too -- same gun, same caliber.

Well since we're showing off a few toys, here's one I started working on after it sat in the safe for almost 10 years now. :icon_redface: VZ24 mauser action with a hinged trigger guard and light weight 22" barrel.  Fully bedded with a floating barrel in .308 Winchester. It will make a nice deer rifle when it's done. :atbeer:
And remember, when dealing with children, silence may be golden but duct tape is silver.

I don't know much about firearms, but I love the Mauser style.

Gotta love the .40 (Ok, some don't) You like the small and fast theory? You can go that way. You like the heavy bullet theory? You can go that way too -- same gun, same caliber.

I was actually looking for a 9, but it is getting very hard to find some guns due to demand outstripping manufacturing capability at the moment.  I understand Ruger and its associated lines have told their distributors that no more orders will be accepted this year as it is over 1,000,000 guns behind as of the moment.  I wanted the 9 for the cheaper ammo.  .40 seems to be about 50% higher.  The 7.62x39 is about $25 per hundred for the AK and that is about twice what it was a few years back, but, still not too bad...I can dump 30 rds without crying, anyway

I find the .40 a bit hard to shoot as compared to my 1911.  I seem to be pulling it low altho I got better today.  I ordered a new sear to reduce the trigger pull a bit as well as shorten it up.  Recoil is pretty good and slows down target acquisition, but, that should get better as I get used to it.  Mags are almost impossible to load due to high spring pressure.  I ordered a Lula loader to get past that and it may get a bit easier after leaving them loaded for a bit.

The trigger is really not all that bad except I always shoot single action and this feels like about 7 lbs to me.
