Lake Simcoe where I am still has LOTS of ice as well.  I went out ice fishing yesterday morning and probably tomorrow morning too and there was 15" of ice yesterday where I was.  I will be ice fishing here for at least another week if not longer and the hardcore fisherman will probably be ice fishing into April!!   :O     Last year I didn't trust the ice and I never even went out on it once, much different than this year.

Mine wears tight t-shirts over her big plastic boobs and jumps up and down while I'm staging. The guy in the other lane doesn't stand a chance.
Brad,

We need video or pics or it didn't happen.

Always good to have a spare engine (or four) with these cars.  An understanding wife is also a good thing.   :)

I like and use Office both at home and at work.  Through my wife's work she was able to purchase Office 2010 for $11 as a download, so with the whole being cheap thing, it worked well for me.   :D

I really like the quick boot times of Windows 7 & 8, my old computer running XP was taking way too long and it recently started making bad noises while trying to boot.  The boot time was normal for XP but then something started acting up, not sure if it was the HD or what but then the boot time increased noticeably and it was making bad noises so that was enough of a push for me to get a new computer and this one was on sale.   :D

Well I've got Office 2010 working on my new computer so I am happy with that right now.  I am starting to get to like this O/S a little more and since I am cheap I don't think I will bother getting a copy of Windows 7 now.

Brad, what don't you like about Windows 7?  When we upgraded at work nobody seemed to complain too much since it was pretty similar to XP, it was almost seamless.

General Buick Tech / Re: Octane Question
« on: March 15 2013, 08:29:10 PM »
Checking back - 87 octane is roughly regular gas in 1987.
I can verify the car ran fine(street driven)  on regular gas stock chip- stock boost.
Original headgaskets
Dave,

The gas of 1987 - 1990 is MUCH different than the gas of today.  The gas back when our cars were new was decent compared to todays crap.  If you don't believe me than put 87 octane in the tank and lets go for a quick WOT blast to OD while running a stock chip.   :013:

T Tops leaking down the A pillars, rear frame rust

That was confirmed.
The floor boards are shot- no big holes but lots of small ones.
The A-pillars needs some attention and the complete front top needs to be replaced.
The one thing that was extra was the Driver side door

The car you are describing isn't a driver, it is a PARTS CAR.   :(

Unless you can and like fixing rust issues run the hell away from this car!!!!  Please!!!!

Stock boost should be within the limits of 87 octane without Alky- No?

Depends on the chip and how much timing it has I would imagine.

If you are going to get an alcohol kit (most cars should) then bump the boost and the timing and enjoy the car!!

So Windows 7 can still be purchased?

Windows 8 is "interesting" but I am a little more boring, I think I should switch back to Windows 7 so I can used Office 2010.  I don't know why but I am having issues getting Office 2010 to open properly.   :013:

If I could get that working properly I think I would be fine with Windows 8.  Time to do more reading this weekend.   :rolleyes;

General Buick Tech / Re: Intake Gasket

The weather up here has kept me busy but I finally went and got my intake manifold gasket and I grabbed the MS 96037 and it looks like the one I was after.

Price wasn't as good as in the US, but then again I didn't have to use any fuel to go get it either since I got it locally here in town.  My cost was $39.95 which wasn't too bad I guess.

IHADAV8 Playground / Windows 8

I just got a new computer yesterday, it came with Windows 8 and I am not really liking this operating system.  My last 2 computers were running XP and my son's laptop that we got last summer runs Windows 7 (also Windows 7 at work) they all worked and did things like I expected but this Windows 8 seems like it is more for a smart phone than a computer.   :013:

Any one got any good tutorial links for Windows 8 or should I just go back to Windows 7?  Can you even buy Windows 7 anymore?

Thanks in advance,

Like any car, watch out for rust, electrical issues (unless you are good at fixing them and or like electrical issues) and funny mechanical noises.

One thing I like to check for when looking at a TR is to see if it has been returned to stock, ie. did it have an alcohol kit, K&N air filter, etc. in place and is now being returned to stock to be sold.  If the seller says it is all stock, never modified and everything under the hood is dirty except for some stock parts that were just replaced then I know he is lying to me and to look for other issues he might be trying to cover up.

I don't mind the car having performance parts and on it, hell most of us add them on but I really don't like liars trying to dupe me because then you can't trust anything from them.

Just remember it is probably cheaper and easier to fix mechanical issues than it is to fix rust issues.

Good luck,
