If it is already apart and the trans guy (who I assume you trust) says to replace the drum, then have it upgraded just for the peace of mind.

In the winter part of my job is monitoring weather conditions, temperature, snow, wind, etc. and the coldest I have ever seen (in the last 12 years) is -26° Celsius (not factoring the wind).  This year I had the "joy" of seeing -34° Celsius (again not factoring the wind) and I can tell you that you can have the heat on high but you can still feel the cold coming through the door on the truck!!!!

For Sale/Trade/Want To Buy / Re: Books Wanted

The Buick Power Source book is digitized, I have a copy that I found on the 'net a few years ago that is a .pdf and 18.4 Mb.  I have a hard copy that I am keeping but if needed I could send you the .pdf.

I also have one of the Jim Ruggles books and it is pretty old tech, (written in 1982 - 1983).  In it Jim says to stay away from girdles but there is also some good / interesting reading as well.  Again I am keeping this but just trying to let you know it might not be the best to use if you are building an engine.  If you are just looking to have some cool Buick reading on the shelf then disregard my post and good luck finding your books.

Dave,

That might be true for younger guys but I booked the day off today to go ice fishing.  I woke up and saw it was -20° Celsius so I decided to wait for it to warm up a bit before going out ice fishing.  It isn't too bad with some friends, but I wasn't sitting out there in a light East wind by myself to try to catch a few Perch today.  10 years ago I would still be out there wondering why I can't feel my finger tips... those same finger tips that loose feeling quite quickly now when it gets slightly cold!!!   :chin:

IHADAV8 Playground / Re: fuel mileage

At my work I drive a Chev pickup with a 4.3l V6 and it's mileage is worse than my own 4.8L V8 GMC.  We put a LOT of miles on our trucks, from the end of October until mid April we run our trucks 24 hours a day / 7 days a week so we use LOTS of fuel.

The scary thing about this thread is that car looks mint and the floors still had a little rust spot I'm scared to lift my carpet now.
Take a small welding hammer and *chip* at the floors from below and see what happens.

Just today, I figured out how to send pictures from my computer to the Smart TV's, a 55" Samsung and a 46" Samsung, I was pretty happy.  Then with some more playing around I can now save files from my computer to my son's laptop and vice versa.  I'm pretty happy.

Mike,

Is the car currently set up for a manual transmission or is it a console car?  I don't see a shifter on the column is why I ask.

Mike,

Car looks great, keep us updated on it's progress.   :)

Aren't these old piece of shit cars fun!!??!!   :)

I'm actually thinking about changing the spark plugs in GN #2, they haven't been changed since the early 2000's.  But then again, I don't want this car to think I am pampering it and go all soft on me, yep I'm not changing em.

General Buick Tech / Re: Who has a copy of Buick Illustrated Parts PDF
« on: August 20 2013, 01:22:08 PM »
I've got a copy of that CD here and it is pretty handy to have.  I have used it many times and is worth the money, wasn't much if I remember correctly.  I have also been emailing a lot of the pages to a buddy of mine who is working on a T-top car.

Are you going to rebuild yours or are you going to buy another engine?

Good luck,
