Hmmm... The picture appears short & wide.

This is what the old O2 sensor looked like when I removed it. The threads in the O2 bung are not "square" or "plumb" for lack of the correct term. The threads are angled into the bung causing the thread tap or chase to follow at an angle. I was able to clean up the threads to accept the new sensor, but the base of the sensor does not meet the shoulder evenly. It sits at an angle.

What type of cleaning process should be performed to prepare for a successful repair?

What replacement options are available. Prefer to avoid imported parts.

General Buick Tech / OEM Headers: Crack & O2 Bung Repairs?
« on: June 26 2021, 11:51:30 AM »
Removed my headers & see the crack on the rear tube on the driver side header. Haven't really examined both very closely yet. What should I be looking for? I've heard mention of cutting the mounting flange & creating clearance for expansion & contraction. Also heard of an additional brace welded in. Are the heat shields typically cut off & then tacked back on after repairs/modifications? I have a spare set of heads to bolt up to.

O2 sensor bung repair? My O2 sensor has been cross threaded. I chased the threads, but I believe it has probably been done before. The O2 sensor will not thread in & seat flush. Any reason a new bung couldn't be positioned about 90 degrees away from the original one? I need to mock it up before selecting a final position, but I'm thinking there should be a spot available with better access for sensor replacement.

Thank you.

For Sale/Trade/Want To Buy / WTB: OEM Valve Stem Locks Needed
« on: June 24 2021, 11:33:11 PM »
I need 1 or a couple of OEM valve stem locks. Lost one off one of my exhaust valves & cannot find it. If you know the correct size & a source, I'd really appreciate the info.

Thank you.

Problem solved....It was easy really  :)

I removed the stock ported elbow and 2 piece DP then installed a Terry Houston 3" downpipe.

Where do you find TH 3" DP?

Thought they were NLA.

I ordered a 3" downpipe from RJC about 8 weeks ago.  It's still not made, much less delivered.

Heard from Jason today. He has a back-log that he is shipping out this week & next.

In my limited experience it is unusual for him to be behind.

Installed HR mounts in "low" position, new trans mount, rebuilt cat hanger (previous member of TB forum rebuilt), Pypes 2.5" dual exhaust with 3" test pipe.

Plenty of clearance near body pinch weld & everywhere else. A piece of notebook paper slides between top of pipe & the bottom of A/C box heat shield.

Believe the DP is from TA Performance but not 100% certain.

Be sure your driver's side engine mount is not collapsed

Just installed HR engine mounts.

Body mounts are still original, but don't look overly compressed.

Looks like the bend towards the horizontal plane takes place too early in the pipe run.

I'm familiar with RJC quality. I have a call in to them.

The DP I just installed has very little clearance between top of pipe & bottom of A/C box.

Thanks

Who makes a 3" DP (internal waste-gate) that provides clearance between top of pipe & the bottom of the A/C heater box?
