anybody run one? say like, something similiar to this one here http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTR-23-050
i'm gonna assume not very of us for our cars. but i know some have.
if so... what was basis for you deciding to install one. and hows the results been?

there have been some rigged to try to minimize the amount of oil sucked into the plenum via the pcv. How much real benefit there may be, I don't know

My thought has always been that catch cans are a band aid solution for a bigger issue.

but what if the only "problem", was that it's a higher milage turbocharged engine, and you wanted to help keep it from developing problems.
a properly working pcv and adding a check valve is a major player, right? but I can't think of one good thing it will do for your engine by pulling blowby into your intake. deposit buildups. gumming stuff up. fouling, detonation,... a $100 for a good quality Moroso air/oil separator, it can only be a win-win, right?
I gotta feeling you guys are gonna say that if it makes me sleep better at night,... then go knock my socks off :flat;

this would be what i would go for if i where to add one.
steve, at wot and at say...28 psi, even on a tight motor, your gonna be makin some pretty good crankcase pressure, right? surely that check valve is doing you some good?
or do you just think their over-rated...as in, the valve cover breathers should be more than sufficient?

it is not the pressure that is important...it is the total volume that is pushed in. Think how small a leak that a working pvc actually is compared to the volume that can escape thru the breathers...gi mmick in my opinion for those that don't think about the actual mechanics of the "problem"

I guess I was just kinda thinking along the lines of similar to exhaust leaks and vac leaks. where every little tiny bit can make a difference in your tune. but, I know, the pcv is a controlled leak

ok... :rolleyes; i know i should be hog-tied and feathered, but at the very least, it'd be interesting to see just how much oil is seperated, say... every 1000 miles

I'm running a pair of catch cans.....1) on the PCV system and 2) off passenger valve cover. Just had to fab up a bracket to mount them both.
Not finding any oil in the valve cover catch can, however, I've found about 3/8" oil depth in the apporx. 2 1/2" dia. PCV Catch can after about 1,000 miles of driving. Glad this has been diverted from being dumped back into the intake thru the vacuum block.
Am using AMW's catch cans with check valve installed on the PCV can. They are working great....I am happy with how they function.

I get about 4-5 oz. or so every 1K miles.
Car has 190K+ on it.
PVC catch can setup.

So these reduce the oil list from entering the intake?

Here's a link to where I bought my AMW (Accurate Machine Works) catch cans.
Got them from Haney Motorsport in Goodyear, AZ.
There's a video clip on the site below that shows how much oil it caught after 1100 miles on a Super Charged Mustang.

Looks like one can be made with stainless wool, a few pipe nipples and a can. Could probably use regular steel wool, the oil mist should keep it from rusting.
