If your over 50 the picture and sound doesn't  matter much. You cant see or hear most shit anyway. Look for
the most HDMI and USB slots.  Also base it on the service you have,
most don't provide 4k. Also only thing in 4k is Dumbo and some nature
shows. But back to what I said you cant see the difference anyway.
Netflix and Amazon downstreams 99% of all content in 720 or sometimes
1080. If they say 4K you get it at 720 unless you live in the big
city that has fiber to carry the signal.I had good luck with Sony, LG andSamsung And usually get good sales on them.

The “led” is for the backlighting. It’s led instead of a bulb. The letter in front of it is just a different way of doing it. O is organic, q is quantum - they are both different but the test is if you can tell the difference.
4k content is limited right now but like everything else that’ll improve. The quality of the scaling processor can make a huge difference on upscaling lower resolution content.
I’ve been looking - I don’t want anything smaller than a 65” to replace our 47”.
Start with the size tv you want, budget and then go look at some.

What's wrong with the Yammy and speakers you are using?  Or are you looking for better?  I have a curve tv and love it but it has a focal point so things may not look too clear out side of that focal point.  But the slight curve gives a 3D impression especially when the image is right at the curve.  My tv is 3D but I find it too busy.  The local provider has Vibe which is a 4k network for TV.

Nothing is wrong with the receiver or speakers. I was asking about the new TV's.

It takes SD, 720p, 1080p and upscales it to 4k. 4k is 4x the resolution of 1080p. If you've ever seen standard def content on a 1080p TV it can look block or pixelated.

I think it comes down to what you want to spend.  I didn't want to spend $5K on a TV so I went with the second from the top which has most of the features including 240 refresh, some say that is a waste.  And they say if you're over 50 get a 55" and if you're over 60 get a 65".  And who are they???

And the new TV's are now 8K!  If you like sitting right in front of the TV then you will notice the difference in 4K and 1080 but after a certain distance it doesn't change much.

I was at Whitby Audio on Friday. They had a Paradigm center channel speaker that was on consignment... and I grabbed it to upgrade my smaller center channel speaker. You should see the home theater they have set up in the basement. Unreal!

Picked up a pair of used Paradigm 7se's to upgrade my rear speakers this morning from a guy in Hastings that refurbs stereo equipment. He's as good as it gets. Gave him my Radio Shack Realistic belt drive turntable from the late 70's to refurb for me.
